Air Serbia Cargo posts strong results

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia Cargo has recorded its biggest ever monthly uplift by carrying 575 tonnes of cargo during October, exceeding last year’s October total of 394 tonnes by 46%. The airline transported 174 tonnes of mail during the month, representing an increase of 57%, which was driven by high volumes of post sent to the US from across Southeast Europe. General freight also registered a strong upwards trend, with 401 tonnes carried this October compared to 283 tonnes last year. The carrier's wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft offers eleven tonnes of belly-hold cargo capacity per flight. Since June, the airline has transported a wide variety of cargo to the United States, from food products made in Serbia to mozzarella from Italy, garments and machine parts from Turkey and Romania, mail from Russia and Greece and safety glass from Croatia. In addition to its nonstop flights to New York, Air Serbia provides road feeder services to 53 cities across the US and Canada. Air Serbia's CEO, Dane Kondić, said, “Our cargo operation has posted a record breaking month for October and is on track to deliver impressive results for the year of 2016. With a network of 44 destinations and extensive trucking and logistics services, we play a leading role in facilitating trade both in the region and beyond, to North America". He added, “Our New York service has really taken off with shippers in Southeast Europe and we are confident it will continue to grow in popularity”.

Hmmm... guys. Isn't it strange that JFK-BEG line coincides with the story about arms shipments from ex-yu to Syrian rebels. Do Americans send something via Belgrade. Arms are very heavy. This may explain American willingness to open this connection as soon as possible. Maybe this is just another conspiracy theory.

Civil aircraft can and is carrying weapons, under the special licenses regime. Nothing new in commercial cargo business. Naturally, dimensions must fit. JU A330 can take more than 15.000kg of cargo....
