NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has promised new innovations and announcements in the coming months for 2017. The carrier's CEO, Dane Kondić, told the December issue of the "Elevate" magazine, "We have many more exciting enhancements planned for 2017, chief of which is our upcoming move to the Sabre system, a cutting edge IT platform used in the aviation industry. It will mark a step-change for our business and even more importantly, for our guests by providing more booking options and more personalised travel experience". He added, "Making such smart investments is all part of our plan to ensure the future growth and success of Air Serbia".

I hope you realize if your selling options are bad, you may lose money even on high-yield markets, with great load factors. See for details the story about OU and LHR.
This is not socialism where you only need to produce a product. You need to sell it good too.

In other words they are moving closer to a hybrid model which was already reported on here. Charging for luggage, seat selection, meals... will all come online in 2017. Those are the 'enchantments.'

Well they are enhancements. Not everyone needs a checked-in bag always, and this will enable them to travel for less.

      Of course it is degradation.
Same price as before but not included luggage or higher price with included luaggage. How anyone can call it "enchantment?"

Just a bunch of hate from people who are paid to support Wizz here. Aux fee model is proven to be effective against LCCs. Air Serbia is moving in the right direction and haters are getting back to panic mode.

Panic mode? Not at all. If anything this is a fest for the so called haters because this clearly shows Dane has no clue how to run an airline. He is taking JU down the same path AB took, the one of total confusion.

The initial question was who will take the blame for the previous two models failing? Will be Dane or will he blame jatovci? lol

Anon @ 1 Dec 3.22pm .... BA is introducing buy on board across it's entire short haul route network, along with many other previous exclusive FSC's. That is the only way that they can provide greater choice to customers in order to better compete with LCCs. Is this also a "situation of total confusion" ?

Anon @5:30 Exactly! Many other examples that confirm this is a step in a right direction. Take a look at AC and their weapon for low yield routes RV, they got this right. On a 5 hour domestic flight all you get in economy is water and couple of pretzels. On the other hand BoB menu is great, they have vegan choices, healthy choices, frequent changes to the menu so it doesnt get boring for frequent fliers. You get a discount if you bundle food and drinks, you get additional discount for purchasing it with the airline ticket, so now your food/drink is cheaper than airside and you have more choices than most airside outlets have. Air Serbia can bring more revenue and offer more customized service passengrrs want if they play their cards right.

They are not paying me at all, I just prefer to see JU succeed. Some of you who are hating Air Serbia are being paid though. One guy made a site to hate JU and promote competition, for which he is being compensated in flights. He decided to show those “compensation” flights publicly, mostly LO and OS this year:

      https://s16.postimg.org/q3it2m5k5/DN1.jpg

It used to be QR flights and others since Air Serbia started in 2013, but he didn’t fly much before he devised this model. Ex Yu Admin, please don’t delete, this is info he decided to make public and easily searchable so not my fault to point it out. He is being paid a lot more than a sandwich.

Great. On plus side they finally listen to needs and requirements of passengers. Im really looking forward to affordable one way tickets. It will great to be flexible. On minus side, I don't think that tickets will be cheaper. For current fares will get less, no luggage. So enchanted or enhanced will be our credit cards... So win-win.

On half of my trips I only had my suit bag and hand lugage. Hand lugage consists of my laptop, spare shirt and tie(s), and stuff I'll need in a hotel. I really don't consider LCC for a business travel. It doesn't need to be business class, since legroom is good in almost any decent airline's economy class.

I can't agree with you, if this model was planned since 2013 then they would not have introduced a dedicated business products, opened a lounge, introduced a fantastic products (in the beginning).

Seems like they are going the same way AB went, first they were a legacy carrier, then they were a boutique and now they want to be a hybrid.

Personally I hope they stay the way they are now. All they need is to do is improve their sales, that's all. Their cost structure is competitive so no need to further downgrade your product.

Its not about downgrading a product, it is about giving more choices to consumer and about enabling more ancillary revenue. Link in post at 4:47 explains about that trend. Having a dedicated business product and lounge is actually in line with this direction. All US legacy carriers have both business class and lounge yet all charge for first bag in economy plus many aux fees. ASL could not implement it back in 2013 because they were stuck with 5 year contract with Amadeus inherited from Jat.
