NEWS FLASH

Low cost airline easyjet will launch services to Zadar next summer season. Following talks with the airport earlier this year, the carrier will run three weekly flights from Milan Malpensa, each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Services will commence on June 27 and operate until September 3. Further details can be found here. easyJet began flying to Croatia in 2009 and maintains seasonal operations to Dubrovnik, Pula and Split from a number of destinations. It handled over 600.000 passengers on flights to and from the country last year.

This is a good addition to Zadar, it's good for the airport it will become less depended of Rynair

Agree, it would be better for Zadar if they attract more airlines to open new markets. Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland are still unserved countries.

Zadar airport must be smart to attract more visitors from the areas that are popular, if they look on the map of Europe the Netherlands is still not served, Finland as well, Spain and France can be boosted, Switzerland also and of course the Scandinavian countries

I think if easyjet opens Amsterdam - Zadar it will become a nice complete new route since the Netherlands is not served

Hopefully, so strange that Zadar is neither connected with easyjet or transavia to Amsterdam, or with Ryanair to Eindhoven. While loads of Dutch tourist visit the area during the summer and also in the preseason and end of the season. I myself would use that connection atleast twice per year.

I agree, it is very strange that Zadar is not connected with the Netherlands, Eindhoven and/or Rotterdam is the most potential city in my opinion for Transavia beacuse Rynair is already flywing from Weeze to Zadar and Transavia would be a great concurrent for Rynair

Well I don't think Transavia will open new routes from Eindhoven to Zadar as they already fly to Croatia from Rotterdam to Split and from Amsterdam to Dubrovnik

Maybe, but then its time for easyjet to start with flights to Zadar or even ryanair to Eindhoven the area is big enough for both a few flights weekly to Weeze and Eindhoven in the summer season. Especially If you imagine that Wizz flies to both Belgrade and Nis all year from Eindhoven.

Can anybody tells me what are the criteria for an airline like Rynair or Transavia for opening new routes and does anybody has an idea why still no airline flies from the Eindhoven region.

Withing the radius of 50 km of Eindhoven there are more than 1 million people?

@G-G well if I look at Google maps and Wikipedia the area around Eindhoven is bigger in the population. The are in a radius of 50/60 km around Eindhoven has more than 2 million people if you include the north east part of Belgium.

I think this is a real potential new market that seriously would be well served if an airline open flights from Eindhoven to Zadar.

New routes for now in 2017 from/to Zadar:

    Zadar - Bristol | March 28 - Ryanair | 2x weekly
    Vienna - Zadar | April 08 - Eurowings | 3x weekly
    Milan - Zadar | June 27 | easyJet | 3x weekly
    Glasgow - Zadar | July 03 - Ryanair | 2x weekly
    Zadar - Copenhagen | July 03 - Ryanair | 2x weekly

If my predicted calculations are right Zadar Airport could easly have more than 600.000 passangers in 2017.

Well Zadar will hit 520,000 passengers in 2016 and with the new routes 600,000 is very possible.

KLM - Air France has a new strategy and that means that Transavia can't expaned any more. Transavia wanted to expand in more upcoming markets, like Dubrovnik.

It's sad to see they stopped the route from Paris to Zadar.
