NEWS FLASH

Adria Airways will discontinue services between its base in Lodz in Poland and Amsterdam at the end of the 2016/17 winter season. Initially, flights were to continue into the summer. Ticket sales have been discontinued past March 31. Adria maintained the route four times per week. According to Polish aviation portal "Pasazer", the fresh cancellation now puts in doubt the carrier's base in Lodz, where it has stationed both a Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft and its crew. The airline will continue to operate ten weekly services from Lodz to Munich, which is down by two flights from last year. Furthermore, the airline will not be resuming any of its services from Olsztyn and Rzeszow in Poland this summer either.

Does that mean, that 4k will be closing down the company soon?

No, it means a termination of above mentioned route!

Well, as they have been closing down routes ever since they took over Adria, I think that the above question is legit. I was always under the assumption that airplanes were supposed to fly in order to (potentially) make money. I guess I was wrong.

Closing down loss making routes is the only logical thing to do. If there's no pax traveling on that route, or just not enough, then cancel it. In the end, the airline should be profitable and every loss making route is just making them be further away from possible profitableness.

Future doesn't look good for Adria. Cancelling routes, pilot strike to happen this week, selling and leasing back the brand, "unable to find an engine on the market" for S5-AAR last year during top season, etc.

I hope I am wrong, but I really don't see Adria surviving until the end of the year.

their numbers seem to grow tho. they centralised around some basic routes that seem to be making money. also let's not forget that they signed the skoda charter flights, which is also a baseline profit for the company. less routes doesn't mean the company is doing bad. it just means they're running on basic stuff, till they make a plan on how to make profitable future routes. for now they're doing okay. and they didn't cancel that many routes, and they increased the frequencies on the ones that matter most. we'll see what will happen. I think they have a good chance of turning in a profit this year. We'll see.

So far, they've cancelled TIA-CDG, TIA-BRU, LJU-TXL, LJU-ARN, LJU-CGN, LJU-LGW, PRN-LTN, LCJ-CDG, CDG-RZE, LJU-SZY, LJU-IST and so on. That seems quite a lot, considering they didn't have a huge network to begin with. I don't know, having the same number of aircraft (and crew) means you only save on fuel and handling fees, while making no income. That doesn't sound economically viable.

Oh, the (Skoda/Land Rover) charters were there all along (even before 4k took over). So nothing new there.

JP website hasnt been updated for a while. At least not a very active website and green capital 2016 LJU is still there..
Also SUTT 2017 part of it is sloppy.... for example LJU to DEL and why is there some codeshare destinations in alphabetical order and some not for example SIN DEL GVA ex LJU etc
    Leaves not the best impression
