Pula Airport has reopened for commercial traffic following three months of runway upgrades. As part of the project, the approach lighting system has been extended from 400 metres to 900 metres and the runway has been resurfaced. Valued at 3.47 million euros, the work was fully funded from the airport's own means. Built in 1954, the three-kilometre runway was last upgraded in 1972. "We are extremely happy with the completed work. Despite some minor challenges, we managed to resolve them immediately and meet our planned deadline", the General Manager of Pula Airport, Svemir Radmilo, said. Pula Airport anticipates handling a record 600.000 passengers this year. A number of airlines will launch new seasonal services to the city this summer including Lufthansa, British Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, easyJet, Eurowings, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Transavia, Jet2 and Thomson Airways.

ReplyDeleteI just wish things would finally start happening in Split - most urgent the much bigger terminal, another apron enlargement for more stands and parallel taxiway to tackle capacity issues in summer.
