NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia made history yesterday afternoon when its first all-female flight and cabin crew took to the skies. The special flight, JU314, departed Belgrade for Paris at 17.05, with Captain Vesna Aleksić and First Officer Mirjana Stojilković at the controls. Looking after passengers on the flight was a team of four female flight attendants including Cabin Senior Mirjana Popović and Cabin Crew Silvija Madić, Elena Ljubojević and Tanja Stanković. Air Serbia's CEO, Dane Kondić, said, “This is the first flight to be operated with an entirely female crew in the ninety year history of the Serbian flag carrier. We congratulate all the crew for being part of this incredible moment and hope it inspires more Serbian women to pursue a career in aviation”. The company added it is a keen proponent of equal opportunity and currently nearly 49% of the total workforce employed across Air Serbia, Air Serbia Catering and Air Serbia Ground Services is female.

Uniform OK - standard really. Is that a scaff or coloured baby's bib the cabin crew are wearing?

It's a pity Aco that you had to add your opinion about cabin product to a news that has nothing to do with it.

Congrats JU! Still very rare to have two pilots in the cockpit. In the UK only 1 flight in 300 is flown by two women.

Great, but honestly it's a shame that this kind of things are even news
PS. Do we really need to end up talking about politics and getting triggered even here?

Po ovom komentarima se vidi koliko mržnje i pakosti postoji u nekim ljudima. Mogu samo zamisliti kakvi ste ljudi van ovoga bloga ako ovako pišete za prelepu vest kao šta je ova danas.

Nice stuff! It was also a news on a Dnevnik 2, before that Dane was talking about AUH route

Can someone tell me how this is not a lot of free publicity for basically nothing? I mean, well done to the crew, but this should be normal.

It was not "normal" as it was the first time in 90 years, but it will become normal from now on. First time is well worth celebrating.

if it was "nothing", it wouldn't have been picked up by every media outlet in Serbia and by some international news wire services as well. They obviously thought it newsworthy, so your assessment of it is completely wrong.

It has been picked up by Bosnian and Croatian mainstream media as well. That's smart PR. Same way they sent an A330 to Zagreb Airport's terminal opening.

This is about women being able to succeed within typical male dominated domain. Large international companies publicly celebrate first female CEOs in history. Countries that get first female PM or President celebrate, too. It would and should be celebrated even if Dane wasn't around. Seeing Dane in everything can't be healthy for you.

Once again Serbia lagging years behind Croatia as OU had first all-female-flight some 5 years ago. And, yes, it was mentioned in media, but really mentioned only, and far far less then this free publicity fairytale

    1. Anonymous22:33

If that is true it just shows how poor OU's PR is. BTW all airlines publicise this widely. Just last month Air India had a huge thing about it and it was widely reported worldwide (even on the BBC). So I guess OU needs to scrub up its marketing because it seems to be years behind others.

Naravno, sve cestitke damama. Jedno pitanje: Da li je posadi u uniformi dozvoljena raspuštena, duga kosa preko ramena?! - Ili mora biti skupljena u pundju ili rep, kao frizure CPT i STW? *Reference: „Grooming Guide Flight Deck“

Vesna trained on the Airbus and promoted to captain by Wizz.
On a side note: a crew being very good to look at except the label on the pilot's hat. That's like a limo driver in AUH. ))
