NEWS FLASH

Pula Airport has seen its passenger numbers grow sharply this year, despite its inactivity during the winter due to the overhaul of its runway. In May, the airport welcomed 48.132 travellers through its doors, an increase of 37.2% compared to the same month last year. During the first five months of 2017, the airport handled 64.133 passengers, up 32.1%. A number of airlines have launched new seasonal services to Pula this summer including LOT Polish Airlines, Eurowings, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Jet2, Red Wings Airlines and Thomson Airways, with British Airways, easyJet and Transavia to follow. Recently, Eurowings announced it would extend its seasonal service between Dusseldorf and Pula into the winter months. Meanwhile, Pula Airport became the first in Croatia to successfully complete the conversion of its operational certificates in line with new European Union regulations. The certificate is proof of compliance with the latest and most rigorous aviation standards and recommended practices. The EU has set December 31 as the deadline for all airports within the bloc to complete the conversion.
