NEWS FLASH

Hainan Airlines has been granted a permit to commence a two weekly service between Beijing and Belgrade via Prague from September 15, the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate confirmed to EX-YU Aviation News. The Chinese carrier also requested and received fifth freedom rights between Prague and Belgrade, allowing it to sell tickets on this sector as well. The carrier has put tickets for the new service on sale, with return economy class fares starting from 550 euros. Flights are scheduled to operate with the 292-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft, featuring 32 seats in business class and the remaining 260 in economy. As previously reported, Hainan Airlines will operate the service under the following schedule.

I am sure their price will be the deciding factor, they currently sell BEG-FCO-Xian-Beijing for as little as €589

Is such a long stopover time usual? It is still a better option compared to disembarking and re-embarking on another (connected) flight but somehow I thought the stopover can be done in less than one hour.

They should try to get the stop-over time to 1-1.5 hours.

My guess would be PRG in both ways. They go from PEK to PRG, layover until the next flight, go to BEG and back to PRG and wait for the next flight to PEK.

They may have two options, depending on CAAC legality and rules:

      1 - PEK-PRG (layover) PRG-BEG-PRG (layover) PRG-PEK

      2 - PEK-PRG-BEG (layover) BEG-PRG-PEK

      Option 2 is more economical.

Any news on fares from BEG to PRG? When are these flights starting?

If that makes ZAG special then I guess Entebbe, a 90 000 people town in Uganda is also special as EK flies there too.
