NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has launched BagJourney, a global baggage monitoring system for tracking checked luggage at every stage of its journey, from start to finish. Created by aviation technology provider SITA, BagJourney uses data gathered across multiple airports to follow baggage as it is checked-in, sorted, sent through security checks, loaded into containers and onto aircraft, and then delivered at airports. BagJourney will enable Air Serbia to quickly pinpoint the location of baggage, as well as more easily reunite passengers with luggage which has been delayed or mishandled. Data for the service is currently being gathered at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade and sixteen other airports in Air Serbia’s network, including London Heathrow, Moscow Sheremetyevo and New York JFK. The service will be rolled out to remaining airports in the coming months. The service is also integrated with SITA WorldTracer, an online global baggage tracing and matching system which passengers can access to check the status of their baggage. Declan Keller, Air Serbia's Chief Operations Officer, said, “We’ve introduced a lot of new technology this year to improve our services, and are pleased to launch BagJourney. With BagJourney, our staff can now track baggage real-time through every stage of travel, pinpoint the last seen location, and resolve baggage delays more quickly. We know how important on-time baggage delivery is to our guests and are confident that BagJourney will enhance the guest experience”.

Kudos to Air Serbia, this long overdue step forward will help close the gap on key customer satisfaction issue. Down the road it may enable Air Serbia passengers to track baggage using smartphone, one of the items on my wishlist.

Tracking bags in real-time, with maps, would be fantastic. Air Serbia has made a lot of progress recently with their mobile check-in and wireless IFE app. Hope they continue to develop their mobile tech.

Text mentioned Declan Keller, Air Serbia's Chief Operations Officer. I checked his LinkedIn and it seems that he started in Jan 2017. Does anybody know anything about this guys? Is he maybe behind all these changes we are seeing?

No, changes were already drafted well before he came. People were talking that JU will go hybrid as early as September last year.

This is the first ASL statement in four years not quoting Kondic. Fact that Declan Keller represents the company in an official statement could mean that the ceo Kondic is leaving (his contact expired).

Here we go again, your wet dream of Kondc leaving. Not going to happen. Try not to comment when are you dead wrong, Keller represented company in an interview before. This one is from March:

It wasn't an official statement. It was an interview. No official statement was ever issued without Kondic's quote.

When officer of the Company gives an interview, he does not present personal views, he presents official views and statements of the Company.
