NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport recorded strong passenger growth in September, handling 180.380 travellers during the month, an increase of 18.9% on last year. The growth was achieved despite a notable decline in the number of aircraft movements, which stood at 3.027, down 8.3%. During the month, the airport received a boost from a significant number of charter flights to Istanbul ferrying fans to the final of the European Basketball Championships. Over the first three quarters, Ljubljana Airport welcomed 1.297.877 passengers through its doors, up 20.4%. During the same period, the airport processed 8.705 tonnes of cargo, an increase of 15.2% on last year.

I'm interested if it could be found out how many Slovenians used Zagreb, Trieste and both Venice airports in 2016.

That info could be found - check how many passangers have used GoOpti shuttle service to get to Venice, Bologna and others.

Many of them did. Most of my friends use Venice airports since the price is always lower and people go after price. I just don't understand people flying out of Milan or Munich, it so far!

Munich is used mainly by those travelers, who use direct charter flights to Canary islands, Caribbean etc. That's because of tourist agencies.

I read (in one Italian newspaper) that are 200 pax daily =using a Slovenian id or passport= flying ex Venice (and Treviso) to Spain or via Spain to a further destination.

I was checking connections from Slovenia (Ljubljana) to Treviso and Venice airports. Right now I found 29 car sharing on that route for Saturday 21. October 2017. Wow! And GoOpti is doing well too.

Last two anons: interesting. If that is correct there must be enough pax from LJU to sustain flights to the Iberian peninsula, pissibly on an A319, possibly 5 weekly, maybe even more in top season.

Iberia should consider LJ. Madrid is a perfect transfer point and Iberia does it realy well and at a good price. If only Fraport would not be so incompetent and evil.

We drive from Ljubljana to Venice frequently because of availability of flights to Manchester and Birmingham. Given that when you arrive in UK train fare from London to Manchester is generally twice as much as LJU to London fare. Surely there must be a market LJU-MAN or LJU-LPL on a year round basis not just expensive twice weekly summer flights to MAN.

I really wish the airport had more low-cost options, at least during summer season. I believe that 2 flights weekly by Wizzair to destinations as Berlin, Barcelona, Corfu, Canary Islands, perhaps Stockholm would be profitable... Also, I find Adria's fares to expensive for tourists, e.g, 150-200 euros return to Paris is too much. Everything is business focused at Adria.

Are you serious? 150€ is a pretty effing competitive price. I have flown Ryanair 20+ times and only twice have I paid less than that. If lowcosters have a monopoly on the route, they are not afraid to charge legacy carrier prices for their flights.

Sorry, but it's really hard to call you anything else than "crazy" if you think that 150-200 EUR on a legacy carrier for a flight that takes almost 2hours is too much.

Yeah? Well you can sometimes find a return flight to Istabul with TK for 100 euros. That is a good price. I flew Ryanair 35+ times and paid prices like 20 or 40 euros return, never more than 100. I live close to Lju airport and I don't know many people who would book Adria tickets and make a weekend trip to some European city. If they do so, they fly Ryanair from Venice or Traviso. Also, on European flights the level of service of a legacy carrier and low-cost is almost nothing. And I am not willing to pay 100 euros more for a free glass of water on the flight. This is not a problem of only Adria but other "standard" airlines as well. Adria only feeds long-haul from Paris, Munich, Frankfurt or transport business travellers. It is true.

Well you can also find Ryanair flights for 8€...

      from Dublin to London.

When you book Ryanair your felxibility matters a lot and many Ryanar passengers fly only because they found a good deal. Many of us need to fly on certain days because we have busy schedules and we are happy with daily connections to cities and not with a 2pw, touristic rotation. 150€-200€ is really not a bad price, considering that one night in a hotel in central Paris will easily cost you the same if not more.

Agree. What you just said only confirms my previous statement. Adria transports business people. People who need to fly on certain day and need early morning and evening connections. In this case they can afford being expensive because companies pay it. But, in addition to Adria, I think LJU could have a few more cheap low cost flights for tourists - students, couples, families who buy a 50 euro return ticket to go to see a European metropole. That's what I wanted to say, i didn't mean to criticize Adria.

I rarely travel for business. Since my line of work allows me often to go back home for 4 or 5 days without taking leave, I like to use all of these days off and spend them with my friends and family.I don't mind paying more to be with them.

Adria is hybrid, not a legacy carrier. Like Air Lingus, slightly better than Ryanair, comparable to Norwegian.

I think you peeps should rethink your conribution as a consumer. Ryanair screwed up European airline industry in total because too many believe paying 10 penies for a ticket make sense.
Somebody needs to pay operational costs on it. But just think, buying those products means supporting them which seems like nothing but supporting trash.

+1 last anon. I think 150-200€ is reasonable. I paid about 170-220€ in May, June or September with LH or AZ many times, buying tickets a few weeks in advance. I am prepared to pay that, you just get better connectivity, better timetables, more frequencies. UltraLCCs have an ultimately harmful business model.
