NEWS FLASH

Turkish Airlines will commence operations with its wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft to Belgrade from March 1. The carrier's morning service from Istanbul to the Serbian capital will be maintained with the 250-seat jet. The aircraft is decked out with 22 seats in business class and 228 in economy. The airline's evening service between the two cities will operate with a mix of narrow-body aircraft, as well as the A330 on selected days of the week. Turkish Airlines competes against AtlasGlobal and Pegasus Airlines on flights between Istanbul and Belgrade.

Nice Air Serbia, Hainan Airlines and now Turkish Airlines all with A330-200s to BEG :)
11:44
Anonymous said…
I hope they will offer competitive prices to Istanbul and beyond as well.
11:52
Anonymous said…
That's a massive capacity increase!
11:52
Anonymous said…
They're planing the same in Sofia and Bucharest + some other euro destinations. I'm guessing this is happening as a result of capacity limit at Ataturk. Turkish is back on track after the downfall last year. It's gonna be exciting following up the development of the new airport and TK. Just a couple of days ago TK announced the A350 order to be firm. Lets wait and see if they're gonna do the same with Dreamliners.
11:54
Anonymous said…
Well they are not sending their widebodies around for fun. Destinations which are performing well get them.
12:01
Anonymous said…
Impressive. Congratulations to BEG for showing once again what a true potential it has. So basically next summer we will have:

- 6x JFK
- 2x PRG/PEK
- 7x IST

That comes out to 15 weekly without TK's evening flight. :O
12:06
Anonymous said…
Wow
12:06
Anonymous said…
I wonder will Atlas respond?
12:06
Nemjee said…
I think that Atlas is fine, they have 9 weekly flights.
Pegasus is the one that needs to step up.

Congrats to BEG and TK!
12:08

It must be a 'good will gesture' from the Turks ;)

Good work Belgrade and TK. Who would have though three airlines operating with wide bodies to BEG just a couple of years ago.
12:12
Anonymous said…
Damn... 2018 is out of control. :D
12:13
Anonymous said…
A330s added in the system now for BEG. Nice :)
12:15
Anonymous said…
Does this mean BEG will have the most seats on offer from ex-YU to IST?
12:22
Anonymous said…
Add Toronto to that.
12:27
Anonymous said…
Lol... Toronto won't happen. It's just politicians' wishful thinking.
12:45
Anonymous said…
This puts additional pressure on FZ and QR. TK has a competitive/marketing advantage since it can fly people from BEG to Asia and Africa on widebodies from the beginning to the end of the trip.

QR is aggressive. I am sure they won't sit idle while TK eats their cake.
12:47
Anonymous said…
Yup but it also means BEG will have the most scheduled widebody flights in the ex-YU.
12:51
Anonymous said…
All the while Etihad will keep on 'dominating' the local market with its daily A320 flight. :D
12:56
Anonymous said…
well, yeah, for now BEG have more bigger birds for the summer 2018.

ZAG
7x B77W Emirates
2x A330 Air Transat
4x B763 Air Canada Rouge
1x A330 Korean Air
total: 14pw

BEG
6x A330 JFK Air Serbia
2x A330 PRG/PEK Hainan
7x A330 IST Turkish
total: 15pw

TK more than daily widebody, Qatar daily, flydubai daily, Etihad daily...

And people still think EK can't make it in Belgrade?
13:11
Anonymous said…
it's easy, you don't need Emirates in BEG. why? there is Etihad, Qatar, FlyDubai and Turkish. In Zagreb we have Qatar, Emirates and Turkish.
13:15
Anonymous said…
TK is more than 7x as some evening flights will get the A330 as well.
13:15
Anonymous said…
Piše u tekstu da će i po neki večernji let Turkiša biti širokotrupni, tako da će Bg imati više od 15pw.
13:17
Anonymous said…
Yes but airlines keep on adding more and more seats meaning demand is booming so it makes sense for BEG to end up on EK's radar soon.
13:17
Anonymous said…
Hainan is sending its A330-300 to BEG, not -200.
13:25
Anonymous said…
Do scheduled A33F and A31F ops count as well? If so, then the A330 is slowly becoming a very common sight at BEG.
13:25
Anonymous said…
so even more, we will see during the S18 how is that going :) probably Zagreb will have some changes too.
13:30
Anonymous said…
the economy must be booming, the reasons for this growth cant be just tourism and diaspora!!!
13:31
Anonymous said…
Etihad is falling apart. They're retiring 77L from their fleet and terminating destinations every second week. Tehran being the last.
13:32
Anonymous said…
Doubt it but sure.
13:36

The contrast becomes much bigger in winter:

BEG
3-4x A330 JFK Air Serbia
2x A330 PRG/PEK Hainan
7x A330 IST Turkish
total: 12-13pw

ZAG
5x B77W Emirates
total: 5pw
13:38

The economy is anything but booming.
13:41

Don't forget that visas were removed for Iranians, Indians and Chinese, some of the biggest markets in the world. JU is the only one not reacting to that.
13:42

We should also add TK Cargo. How often do they fly? Once or twice?

Vueling might launch flight.
14:13

Anon 1:38, wrong. Turkish doesn't have A330 in their schedule for the winter 2018/2019
14:22
Anonymous said…
They don't have it... yet.
14:26
Anonymous said…
I guess Air Serbia pulling out of Istanbul was a good decision after all, I mean ... they would be crushed :D
14:44
Anonymous said…
I would like to see AS back in Istanbul one day.
14:48
Anonymous said…
it means this "winter contrast" is not correct...yet.
14:54
Anonymous said…
or Wizz, now that they're starting VIE base
14:54
Anonymous said…
You are right, EK might get replaced by flydubai.
14:55
Anonymous said…
yeah, sure! :D
14:56
Anonymous said…
true dat.
15:07
Anonymous said…
Wizz would be nice. They could easily run daily flights. Maybe they could run it in a split schedule.
15:15
Anonymous said…
Maybe they could send them to DBV too? Demand seems to be booming.
15:17
Anonymous said…
@1:10

Seasonal/charter flights are not real flights tbh.
15:21
Anonymous said…
@1:41

Maybe not for you personally?
15:24
Anonymous said…
@2:22PM 1st of March is part of the winter season so that might give you an indication.
15:31
Anonymous said…
Most of the Croatian destinations start in June/July and end in September. This starts in March.
15:39
Anonymous said…
there is difference between charter and regular charter flights. For example, Air Serbia came to Split few days ago with national handball team - that is charter flight. Korean Air is coming to Zagreb for last few years on regular basis and that is regular charter. So yeah, you can count on it.

I was talking about next winter timetable. No this one. But ok, if u want, than u can count on that 20+ days too.

This is upgrade, just change of aircraft, no seasonal or new route, of course is different. P.S. routes from Zagreb will finish in October, no September. Kisses from Zagreb guys :)

These flights are a good sign
16:31

Nice but not uncommon. TK uses a lot of widebodies particularly during the summer to really a lot of destinations in Europe, may it be Lhr, Muc, Vie, Ams, Fra, Zrh, now also a lot of secondary cities. They have too many of these birds and need to deploy them somewhere.
16:56
Anonymous said…
It's the first city in ex-yu that will be served by TK's A330 on a regular basis. So yes it is wow for me. Especially since it's the city served by the most Turkish airliners so it has most competition.

Tarom increases BEG from 8 to 9 weekly next summer.

Bravo za Bg, stiže još dobrih vesti. Ne znam da li će uskoro biti mesta za sve širokotrupce, Vinci neka počne sa proširenjem čim preuzme Bg.
17:02
Anonymous said…
Watch out for massive price dumping to US destinations ... this is gonna put untold pressure on JU's JFK flights
17:16
Anonymous said…
Bravo BEG! If Vinci takes Air Serbia under their own we can expect Air France to replace Ethiad soon and then we can expect golden days for BEG!
17:17
Anonymous said…
Fares can't be much lower than what they have been over the past few years. LH is selling JFK for as little as €450. KL had a sale for €370.
17:24
Anonymous said…
Related to BEG, I see that JU will be reducing SKP to 13x while they won't be returning to OHD. Shame!
17:24
Anonymous said…
TK still has waaay lower capacity and set of destinations in South and South East Asia and not flying to Australia. QR,EY and FZ will continue with the cake. TK capacity growth will far more likely target Turkey itself and the Americas.
17:54
Anonymous said…
EY has no connections to China and Japan anymore (unless you're willing to sit for 21 hrs in AUH or add a leg via FCO, soon to be defunct due to AZ sale). People are looking into their flights only to Australia (and the Middle East + India).
17:59
Anonymous said…
Is there anyone that's not increasing BEG? Well, besides JU of course. :D
18:05
Anonymous said…
Which is why I still don't get how EY is full in BEG. Must be all Australia and some India passengers.
18:06
Anonymous said…
Actually, what you are forgetting is that TK carries a lot of passengers to the Middle East and Africa as well.
18:08
YU-ARA said…
nice!!! this is just a start.. many more wide bodies to come to BEG.. so exciting
18:19

Belgrade is so hitting six million this year.
18:34
Anonymous said…
I see that LO is adding more flights to BEG, 11 in total.
18:34
Anonymous said…
And Air Serbia have closed the Istanbul route due to unprofitability. Who besides me sees the problem there? Damn costly monopolists!
19:10
Anonymous said…
UAE and Gulf see a lot of pax as well. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi are home to an increasing number of Serbs.
19:11
Anonymous said…
I expect more Serbs to go to the US since the Dinar gained 20% on the Dollar in the past year.
19:12
Anonymous said…
AF to buy 49% of JU from EY? What are you drinking/smoking?
20:01

TK and PC both do great job in Belgrade. To the contrary, KK is not successful despite great investment. Nine flights per week during next Summer season are not sustainable.

Yup, went down from 118 to 97.

Anon 9:27... KK flights are regularly at capacity on their BEG services. I've taken a few myself last summer and there is a market from both countries. Also KK condensate with JU is not just reaching the ex YU market but also the US market more specifically from JFK.
