Banja Luka Airport has continued to shed passengers in the new year with numbers declining in both January and February compared to 2017. During the first month of the year, the airport handled 1.203 travellers, which is down 18.9%, while in February figures decreased 18.1% to 717. Overall, the airport welcomed 1.920 passengers during the first two months of the year, representing a decline of 18.6%. Banja Luka Airport previously said it aims to handle some 100.000 passengers and offer flights to up to five destinations by the end of 2019 in a bid to turn around its fortunes. It has struggled to attract travellers over the past few years with Air Serbia being its only customer at the moment, maintaining two to three weekly flights from Belgrade during the winter and five over the summer.
How come Air Serbia can not make a single route work from this airport?

DeleteThat is why I said single route. I am surprised they do not have a higher demand for people to transfer IN Belgrade.

I still remember Ljubljana - Banja Luka with Adria Airways. Sometimes all pax can be put in a ordinary car.

What is funny about people flying Wizz over Air Serbia? People living here are poor and are looking for every cent.

ReplyDeleteYep, it will be finished this year, and will be super-fast to reach Tuzla from Banja Luka. And only Banja Luka, but the entire Bosnian Krajina region, that generates a lot of passengers.

DeleteAnd why not Banja Luka?! The city is big enough, bigger then Bihać, covering more people then Mostar... Pity the management is not better to make it work.
ReplyDeleteBecause they are uncapable of running an airport and corrupt. Bihac has Una Sana Canton approx 300,000, proximity of the Una River and a big Una River Rafting Regata, and is close to the Croatian border as well.
