Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has completed the upgrade and overhaul of its Terminal 2 ground floor / check-in area, which was carried out upon the request of Air Serbia. Work included the installation of self-check-in kiosks in the middle of the terminal's ground floor, removal of commercial space, the construction of new retail areas at both ends of the floor, as well as the set up of new Air Serbia ticketing offices and an Air Serbia help desk. A total of 420 square metres of space have been renovated as part of the project. Last year, Belgrade Airport completed a multi million euro upgrade of its Terminal 1 building which included the addition of 33 check-in desks, eleven retail desks, commercial areas, oversized baggage check-in, a new baggage sorting facility and an extra 475 square metres of space. This has resulted in an increase in capacity from the previous 5.5 million passengers per year to seven million.
The renovation was badly needed. The whole area looks much nicer now. I like it how you can see the aircraft from the check in zone in T1.

ReplyDeleteVINCI Aviation will make reserection to entirre Belgrade airport. That airport spent 55 years to riching 5 milion people. In just 17 years, under Vinci managment will be obout 15 milion passangers... Reality is on the way. Big baks go to be spent. Big expetation as well.

Rodney, how do you know that Vinci will do so much better than the previous management, and the management during the '80s and '90s? Don't forget that during the '70s & '80s BEG was a very important regional hub during the socialist times.

DeleteThe DC-9 could've been replaced with C300 Series, the DC-10 with Dreamliner 789 and ATR with newest generation ATR-700, etc.
We could've had routes from BEG-LAX, BEG-JNB, BEG-SIN, ZAG-KUL and so on.
Doubt it. YU was surviving because of foreign loans and 'robne liste.'

DeleteDid they replace the T2 ceiling tiles (the ones in the first photo)? They really look shabby/dirty which makes the entire area look old.
