NEWS FLASH

Etihad Cargo will strengthen its newly launched scheduled operations to Belgrade with a second weekly service starting June 2. The carrier will maintain both flights with its Boeing 777-200F freighter jet, which has a net payload of 100 tonnes. The service operates with the routing Abu Dhabi - East Midlands - Belgrade - Abu Dhabi. The additional weekly frequency will operate on Saturdays, landing in the Serbian capital at 19.00, prior to its departure to Abu Dhabi at 21.00. Etihad Airways also recently outlined plans to boost its passenger services to Belgrade, with an additional five weekly flights for a total of twelve per week, when compared to last year. Belgrade Airport handled 6.483.558 kilograms of cargo (excluding mail) during the January - April period, representing an increase of 30.9% on 2017.

Belgrade is slowly but surely turning into a regional cargo hub. Etihad Cargo only recently launched flights and if they are adding another flight it means loads must be great.

So now we have Etihad and Turkish Airlines and Qatar should be launching flights soon as well.

Comparison between BEG and BUD is interesting.

In the first three months BUD grew by 11.5% while BEG grew by 32%.
In March BUD had no growth while BEG grew by 23%.

      So the gap is narrowing.

Sounds good but what are the exact numbers at BUD?

BUD processed a record 127,145 tonnes of cargo in 2017, up 13.4 per cent on the previous year, and 39.1 per cent on 2015.

BEG had 19,758 tonnes in 2017.

In 2017 BUD grew 13.4% but BEG grew by 42%.

In the first three months of 2018 the situation is such:

      BEG: 4.790 (+32%)
      BUD: 33.060 (+11%)

We should wait for April at BUD but BEG grew by 35% so in total it reached 6.483.558.
We should see what happens in May and June with Etihad and Egyptair flights.

Looks like Etihad finally woke up and decided to do something about BEG.

Compared to what we had before, Etihad added extra 7 frequencies to Belgrade.

I think DHL also increased BEG. Now they offer five weekly B734 flights, 4 from Linz and 1 from Bergamo.

Problem is that BEG does not have a modern cargo facility capable of handling and moving cargo fast and efficiently. Vinci will to do something about this soon.

What exports is Serbia sending by airfreight? Anyone knows commodity and exporters?

Its nice to see that there is progress and things go forward in Serbia. Keep going, we have not forgotten you, u are a valuable part of our European community and I hope that economical ties with the rest of Europe will further be strengthen in the near future

      Agricultural products.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but somehow I don't think it is necessary. Business does not care about Serbia being a valuable part of the European community, just about making money even if there is a corrupt or moral government in power.

Besides agricultural products, Serbia also exports a lot of weapons to the Middle East.

On top of that, a lot of various exports are going to African countries. Serbia exports roughly $1 billion to Ethiopia every year.

Trade with non-European countries is growing rapidly.

$1 billion to Ethiopia every year?! Wow! Had no idea. With that kind of money and products moving you'd think there would be room for direct flights

Egyptair Cargo is also a very frequent visitor. In this week there were 3 flights. This has been going on for a while. What are they carrying? I dont think its only weapons since there were probably over 20 flights by now...
