NEWS FLASH

Etihad Airways will further increase its flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade from July 1. According to "Airlineroute", instead of the initially planned ten weekly service, the airline will add an extra two flights for a total of twelve weekly rotations between the two capitals. As a result, the carrier will operate an extra five weekly services on the route when compared to last summer, with double daily flights to be maintained each day except on Wednesdays and Sundays. All services will be operated by the Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring sixteen seats in business class and the remaining 120 in economy. Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Virgin Australia, Montenegro Airlines and Oman Air all codeshare on the route. Apart from the additional passenger flights, Etihad recently launched a new cargo service to Belgrade.

Fantastic. So if we look at the Asian flights this summer we so far have:

1. AUH 12x
2. TLV 12x
3. DOH 7x
4. DXB 7x
5. BEY 7x
6. IKA 6x
7. DAM 3x
8. PEK 2x

Total 56 weekly flights or 8 daily!

Is this a sign they are planning to stay in Air Serbia?

You honestly believe in Damascus flights? Europe is feuded with Syrian emigrants and you expect direct flights to Syria? I hope that you do realize that every one coming to Belgrade will be a potential refugee.

He just mentioned what was stated in the article, believing or hoping what will happen has nothing with the article that was published on this board.

They are probably going to be used by Syrians flying back home since the war is almost over.

Sorry, I forgot to add SAW so that's 60 weekly. Impressive. Who knows, maybe there are more surprises to come.

I can only imagine how strong the bookings were for them to add these flights.

And this is why ASL, stopped flying to AUH last october.
Gret!

SAW should not be counted, TLV neither. Politically and culturally that is not Asia. Or if you do, than you should also add IST.
23:34
Anonymous said…
IST is located on the European continent, SAW and TLV are not.
We are not talking about culture or whatever here. It's about aviation and geography.

If you are looking for flights to Asia from Belgrade, you will see that connection times in Abu Dhabi are very bad with just one flight a day. I think they will go again with two flights only to compete with other carriers and cities (like Zagreb).

Abu Dhabi connecting service is also very bad in comparison to Doha and Dubai, both in economy and business. Connecting services and comfort are actually much better in Belgrade than in Abu Dhabi.

On the other side, the way they squeezed Air Serbia from the route is disgusting!
