NEWS FLASH

Low cost carrier Wizz Air inaugurated services from Vienna to both Niš and Ohrid over the weekend, connecting the cities with three and two weekly flights respectively.

"We are delighted that after three years of operations in Niš and five months in Vienna, we are able to launch the only nonstop service between the two cities, enabling Serbian passengers to visit the capital of Austria, known for its rich culture. Confirming its dedication to Niš and this region, Wizz Air is offering 850.000 seats on flights to Serbia in 2018, in turn supporting 600 jobs in related sectors", Wizz Air said in a statement. Niš Airport's Acting General Manager, Dušan Knežević, added, "We are very pleased with Wizz Air and we are delighted by the opening of the new service to Vienna. The successful cooperation between Niš Constantine the Great Airport with airline carriers will be continued. This year we will record passenger growth of over 8% compared to 2017".

Over in Ohrid, the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Alper Ersoy, said, "With the addition of Vienna as a new scheduled destination from Ohrid St Paul the Apostle Airport, TAV Macedonia continues to grow its route network but also opens up Austria as a new market for incoming travellers and tourists wanting to visit the beautiful Ohrid Lake. At the same time, all of those residing in the regions of Ohrid Lake, Struga, and municipalities along Ohrid lake on both the Macedonian side and neighbouring countries will have the opportunity to use the nonstop Ohrid - Vienna flights as an affordable connection to Austria".

I am glad that INI is now connected to a primary destination like VIE.
It is now connected to ZRH and VIE, both important cities. I am sure that it will be connected to CPH if MMX didn't work out.
Also W6 can easily base 2 aircraft to respect the 1 million Vinci condition.
Anyway, INI is the gate to the Serbian South and I wish it all the best.

If this connection flight is successful, I cannot see why a decent connection with NIS - ? - MALTA wont be likewise !!! We have been waiting long time and still hoping somebody realize such a demand.

Serbian diaspora in Malta is almost 10 thousand. No wonder why Wizz increased the frequencies.
