Air Serbia resumes Sharm El Sheikh charters

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia's dedicated charter brand Aviolet resumed operations to Sharm El Sheikh for the first time in over five years. The flight, which took off from Belgrade on Saturday, carried 144 passengers on board who will spend their New Year's holiday in the resort town. They are set to return home on January 4. Egypt's Ambassador to Serbia, Amr al Jowaily, hailed the move, noting that additional services from Serbia to Sharm El Sheikh are planned throughout 2019. The flight comes after Air Serbia resumed charter flights to the Red Sea’s Hurghada this summer after a four-year hiatus. Egypt has been bolstering security arrangements at its airports nationwide since a Russian airliner crashed in 2015 after takeoff from Sharm El Sheikh, leading to a suspension of flights to the resort town from a number of countries, including Russia and the UK.

OMG - was just reading the other day about Sharm el Sheikh airport. Most countries consider it as a DANGEROUS airport, and don't allow it's citizens to use it (or use it under their own risk). This doesn't apply to the resort itself (for which there are no limits), but applies to the airport only.

It's considered a HIGH RISK airport since the downing of the Russian passenger plane a few years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrojet_Flight_9268

Hope these guys know what they are doing :(

Great! I hope there are more and more charters next summer. Egypt is a fantastic holiday destination, I hope they solve their terrorist issues so that things can go back to the way they were some years ago. Hope we get Al-Masria back with their A332 next year as well.

Then again, Serbs were never really bothered by terrorism. They travelled to Antalya during the coup. They still went to Tunis after the beach shooting and they still go to Egypt despite a bomb killing three Vietnamese tourists. :D

Which is why JU must unite with Aviolet and increase them charters overseas.
The Serb wants to try something unique which is not just Greece.
