The Croatian Minister for Sea, Transport and Infrastrucure, Oleg Butković, has said Croatia Airlines is "ready for privatisation". He noted, “At the next session of the government, or the one after that, a decision will be made to form a commission, which will monitor the entire process of finding a strategic partner for the airline. The airline's management has already begun the process of selecting a financial advisor. The carrier recently told EX-YU Aviation News, "The goal of this is to ensure the company’s further development, and to strengthen the competitive advantages and position of Croatia Airlines on the air traffic market via a quality strategic partnership. This would include an expansion of the company’s flight network, an increase in Croatia Airlines' market share, and recapitalisation for the purpose of facilitating the future development of Croatia Airlines".

Then again you don't know what's worse, to keep on privatizing it like this or to privatize it and then to have a mess like Adria.
DeleteIt's easy to see which is worse. One company's losses are picked up by taxpayers and another's by a private fund.
DeleteExactly. Slovenian citizens at least don't have to finance a flag carrier with no strategy to speak of, failing shipbuilding or a bunch of other similar examples. Adria situation is unfortunate, but nothing more serious than that for an average Slovenian.
DeleteNations without a national carrier have no national pride to speak of. Some things cannot be expressed in terms of money.

DeleteOne of the nations with strongest sense for national, sometimes even nationalistic, and with extreme pride for their nation, heritage, culture and history are Hungarians. Hungary does not have "flag carrier" but is much more succesful and developed than most of ex-yu, so proud of their national airline companies which are basically tax payers money eaters and cash machines for those "managing" and controlling them
Hungary is hardly the country to look up to.

ReplyDeleteZatvarajte sto pre ovo, toliko para bacate na njihovo finasiranje i imate samo 4 slota na Hitrou. Treba vam kompanija za cartere leti i mala za druge redovne linije.
ReplyDeleteApsolutno uvazavam misljenje da je ovakvu Croatiju najbolje zatvoriti. Sa ostatkom se ne slazem. Mislim da je Hrvatskoj sa turizmom koji progresivno raste sa dalekih trzista, sezonom koja je sve duza i duza, drasticnim poboljsanjem kvalitete ponude, novim terminalima u Zagrebu, Splitu, Dubrovniku, ogromnim iseljenistvom od kojeg je dobar dio na drugim kontinentima, cijelim Balkanom "iza sebe" i ocekivanim rastom privrede, gdje nije zanemariva ocekivana buduca suradnja s Kinom, potrebna kompanija velicine barem Air Serbie, sa dugolinijskim avionima i letovima, sirom i jacom mrezom linija po Hrvatskoj i Balkanu sa regionalnim avionima, i dijelom kompanije/flote za cartere, velicine sadasnje Airbus flote, koja bi zimi dijelom isla u ACMI. I ako do privatizacije uopce dodje, i ako bude isla u tom smjeru, bit ce ok. Ako ne, ovakvu OU treba zatvoriti i pustiti na njeno mjesto druge koji zele i znaju raditi
