NEWS FLASH

Sarajevo Airport saw its passenger numbers decline during the first month of the year. It welcomed 53.485 travellers through its doors, representing a decrease of 1.2% on 2018. The number of aircraft movements stood at 819, down 10.9%. During January, the airport was affected by adverse weather conditions. "Despite fierce competition, the airport is constantly working on attracting new airlines and is seeking to adapt to the individual and specific needs of each carrier. The airport’s management is undertaking ambitious infrastructure projects and other investments with the aim of further expanding its capacity and strengthening its leadership role on the Bosnian market", Sarajevo Airport said. This year, Aegean Airlines, Flynas and Tunsiair Express are set to launch new seasonal flights to Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital, while start-up FlyBosnia will also commence operations to Europe and the Middle East. A number of carriers will also boost their frequencies to Sarajevo, most notably Turkish Airlines, which will add an additional three weekly flight from Istanbul for a total of 21 weekly.

Just a wild guess but I think they are referring to TZL and BNX.

Maybe, but most of people here just don't want to fly because it is way more expensive than taking a Centrotrans coach .

People tend to fly a lot here, especially the younger ones on low cost flights from TZL, Budapest was a huge hit for SJJ, I know at least 10 or 15 people that used the 20€ return tickets, not an expensive city to spend time in, a great experience for people in their 20s.

    Yeah right, competition...
This airport keeps on disappointing. I really hope that Tuzla will soon overtake Sarajevo and become No1 in BiH.

sure, and then what? how would it help sarajevo?

a motorway to tuzla is not even planned yet! and a fast rail will never been built.
if they would start building today, it would not be ready before 2030!
i would contain my enthusiasm for tuzla for now.

Doubt Tuzla will pass 600.000 any time soon, even less so 800.000. I think they reached their maximum for the time being. Also, SJJ serves a whole area that is out of TZL's reach.

The facilities need improving urgently. Surely it's not too much of an effort to keep the departure area toilets clean ,and stock sandwiches to sell all day long !

why are you so obsessed with the toilets that you post about that every other week?

next time you come, please just ask for help, if this is too demanding for you to finish it on your own.

SJJ has a very functional building that is currently being expanded way more than before. It's miles ahead from the new TZL terminal, let alone OMO or BNX as they are right now.

Ive been to the toilets early this year, the one in the terminal building when you just enter on the right, next to the kiosk, and the one when you arrive just before the passport control, they looked clean and more than decent, I dont get what all the fuss with the toilets in SJJ?
