Low cost carrier Eurowings will discontinue its seasonal summer service between Stuttgart and Belgrade. The route was maintained only during the peak summer months of July and August over the past few years. In a statement to EX-YU Aviation news, the Lufthansa Group member said, "Eurowings has not planned to include this leg in the summer schedule". As a result, Air Serbia will remain the sole operator on the route. The Serbian carrier will maintain six weekly flights between the two cities this summer season.

DeleteWould be nice to see Lauda launch these flights. They seem to be a decent and cheap carrier, something ex-YU travellers desperately need.

ReplyDeleteThere planning on the Croatian market is pretty good and keeps expanding over the years with them serving 7! airports in Croatia from numerous points in Germany and Austria.
DeleteActually over the past few years they have suspended few routes from Croatia and announced routes like Brac never happened. Also worth mentioning that their route planner is Croatian guy from Mostar.
DeleteThey are greatly increasing flights to Mediterranean beach destinations but they have a lack of aircraft and crews.

Brac was announced only here, not from Eurowings so you miss the point.

DeleteEven though their 'service' was a joke, it's sad to see them leave as they were one of the first LCC carriers to launch flights to Belgrade a bit over a decade ago. It was them and Norwegian.

DeleteI mean their presence was just symbolic. Over the years they could've launched TXL, HAJ, HAM or at least made STR a proper seasonal or even a year-round route.
Though it probably has to do with Lufthansa and connecting BEG with Germany through FRA and MUC as I find it hard to believe a German LCC is incapable of growing in a city with a huge demand for flights to it's country

DeleteI suppose you are having a stroke if you seriously believe that the p2p market between Belgrade and Germany is small. My guess is that there should be around 1.000.000 passengers per year, if not more.
DeleteAnyway, Eurowings launched BEG with flights from STR and CGN and back then it seemed as if they were going to keep on expanding. Don't forget that was also the time when LH operated BEG-DUS with the CRJ-200. Along the way they seem to have lost their interest. Naturally Wizz Air's expansion and Jat Airways not going bankrupt didn't work in their favor.
I think CGN is the only remaining city in Germany they could launch without facing any direct competition. All others are taken and there is considerable competition.
I think BEG will be replaced by either TSR or SOF. Not sure. They seem to be the new additions.

Yes, but both Eurowings and Stuttgart are considered important airlines and destinations.
DeleteSTR is one of Germany's richest cities and is no village compared to say, Bremen, Hahn or Weeze, etc.
STR is already served from BEG by JU and there is Wizz to nearby Baden Baden.Is Eurowings really that important in Europe? They are still generally unknown and those who know it don't have nice things to say about them.
DeleteEurowings is LCC and can't be more important than for example LH which inceased its presence in BEG this summer.
DeleteDo not forget that JU flies to STR year round and in summer 2019 Air Serbia will connect Belgrade and Stuttgart 6 times per week. So STR will not stay without connection with Serbian capital.

This route must be restored instead of Egypt charters. The real money for Belgrade comes from the north.
Yes and all those who work for those companies fly with JU which is superior compare to Eurowings. Also you make it sound as if EW operated double daily flights. They had two weekly flights for about a month and a half. Hardly a major loss.

On yesterday's news he was writing how Belgrade is only attracting Egypt charters and that Air France will suspend Belgrade and fly with "porsche" A318, which half empty will have a short flight time to Belgrade. Then when someone pointed out to him that AF is not flying A318 to BEG but sends it to Zagreb he went crazy. So yes a troll. Just don't know how he doesen't get tired of it. He also posted links on this news from 10 years ago how some airlines have suspended Belgrade and that the same thing will happen now. It was deleted.

If you do some checks, you will realise that STR currently is agressively being invaded by Lauda. And because this is an important German city, EW are trying to get their maximum stake before it's too late. They are most likely concentrating on more profibale routes.
DeleteKarlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) is 110km away from Stuttgart city centre and W6 flies BEG-FKB two times weekly all year round.

DeleteSto se tebe tice Athos_Croatia sto Wizz leti za aerodrome po 100 i vise km od gradova? Tako lete za BVA i HHN koji su u istoj klasi kao FKB od Stuttgarta.
DeleteПа не живе баш сви Срби у Штутгарту, има оних и у околним местима. Не заборавимо да Баден могу користити и они који живе у источној Француској, посебно у Стразбуру. Та два града су удљена тек пола сата. Мени је то баш кул, има шта год људима одговара па нека сами изаберу. Не знам зашто их чуди што се Јуровингз повукао, поред овакве конкуренције ко је уопште и обраћао пажњу на њих!
