Russian carrier IrAero has applied for permits to introduce flights between Moscow and Banja Luka. The Irkutsk-based carrier is expected to launch operations between the two cities during the summer season. "They [IrAero] are awaiting to be issued a permit by the Russian Ministry for Transport. It is important for this route to be profitable and for it to have an average cabin load factor of 70%. We are preparing for these flights", Duško Pervoić, the Head of the Republika Srpska Representative Office in Russia, said. The General Manager of Banja Luka Airport, Zoran Injac, added, "What we can say is that there is interest from the Russian side. We will do everything we can on our behalf for this route to be successful". IrAero operates a fleet of twenty aircraft, including Boeing 777s, Sukhoi Superjet 100s, Bombardier CRJ200s and the Antonov An-24s. The airline primarily maintains domestic services but operates international flights to China, Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
This would be a really nice addition to BNX. The airport is developing quite nicely in recent times and what I especially like is that they are growing both to the east and to the west.

DeleteFlight BNX to Moscow will be fantastic. There are a lot of Russians in Srpska, in Banja Luka, severeal russian companies like Gazprom and Rafinerija Brod, a lot of persons work and travel to Moscow. With this flight it will be more and more passengers from Slavonia, Croatia. Last time when I travelled from Brussels Charloir to Banja Luka, I have seen quite a lot of persons from Slavonia. From Zagreb, there are fast no low budget flights.

ReplyDeleteBanjaluka itself has no potential for Moscow, but if we take the fact that there is no such flight in all of BiH, and I think there are no flights from Zagreb, this could be a successful story...

Zagreb has 7 per week flights from Moscow by Aeroflot, and 2 per week flights to St.Petersburg from April to October by Croatia Airlines.
Deletecompletely wrong. There is a capacity from BNX to Moscow. Several russian companies are based in Banja Luka and Srpska, a lot of people work and travel to Moscow. Flights from Zagreb are more expensive and BNX will take certain percentige of passengers from Zagreb, there is no doubt.

Well ZAG didn't do anything to remain competitive when BNX started getting flights. Just look at ZAG's growth falling once BNX got flights. Everyone knows most people from Srpska used ZAG and TZL.

Not this AGAIN. How do you people not get bored of arguing the same thing over and over? I'm not from Croatia, but as far as I remember I read Zagreb had good growth in February.

Look at ZAG growth before and after BNX, there is obviously a drop. Also tell me, where did people from Banja Luka fly from before they got their flights? ;)
DeleteAs for INI, MMX was suspended because of a Polish base closing, growth should be back from next month and then especially in summer when summer charters start.
Jeez ... I hope all available pax will fly from BNX from March so that we stop hearing of this devastating effect that BNX has on ZAG.
DeleteYes, Banja Luka passengers are some reason why ZAG numbers standard in January, but because in 2018 there was a handball championship in Zagreb. And to answer you question, many of these passengers took the bus.

ReplyDeleteBNX is growing steady, against all duty haters. Significant number of passengers from Croatia I have seen on several flights from BNX. Of course, BNX will never been like ZG but will definitely attract more passengers from Croatia. Border is only 50 KM from BNX and when new highway BL Croatia with new bridge over Sava is opened, more and more people from Cro will use BNX.
