NEWS FLASH

Pristina Airport registered passenger growth of 11.9% in February despite the collapse of its busiest airline, Germania, and industrial action by air traffic control which disrupted a number of flights over several days. The airport welcomed a total of 138.269 travellers last month. During the first two months of the year, Pristina Airport handled a record 307.046 passengers, up 14.7%. It added an extra 39.344 travellers compared to the same period last year.

So far this is the standing of ex-YU airports:

    1. ZAG - 372.351
    2. PRN - 307.046
    3. LJU - 208.995
    4. SJJ - 106.615
    5. SPU - 71.185
    6. DBV - 60.088
    7. INI - 48.872
    8. ZAD - 3.833
    9. PUY - 1.999

Interesting how close ZAG and PRN are and it will be a tough race to see who will be on top in the end.

Considering Pristina has almost zero tourists that come by plane, this is all gastos coming back to visit family, this is impressive and it just shows how many people moved out of Kosovo.

Somehow I doubt they were going for citybreak but probably work for foreign international institutions or are foreign military staff stationed in Kosovo.

Everyone knows there is a mass exodus and that people are moving in large numbers to Germany. I think that's the main engine of growth and not tourism.
