LOT Polish Airlines has scheduled and put on sale flights between Budapest and Belgrade, which are due to commence on March 30, 2020. The airline has adjusted its schedule from the one initially outlined, with services between the two cities to operate on a daily basis during the afternoon hours. Flights will be maintained by the 112-seat Embraer E195 jet. Return tickets in economy class with carry-on baggage are currently selling at 120 euros. Further flight details can be found here.

Pity they changed the schedule. The early morning departure from BEG and late evening departure from BUD was perfect for a day trip.

DeleteBecause I'm from Belgrade. The schedule was good for going for a day there without needing to pay for a hotel to spend the night. It was also good for business people going to Budapest.
It was not good for business people, they dont want to get up in 3am to go to Budapest.

Jesus if there was O&D market then JU would not have suspended Budapest or even if they did then Wizz Air would have stepped in. A large market is not left unserved by airlines y'all.
DeleteWaking up at 3 AM if one wants to catch any morning flight out of BEG is very much a reality for many of us travelling on business, especially for us not living in New Belgrade district.

DeleteAnyway, its al about destination you flying and preferences. But currently most early morning flights are staring from 6 something AM, not a 5am like this LOT original schedule. And with that flight you would be in Budapest in 6am, so 2-3 hours before almost any work hours.
My point is - no one who travel for business would suggest that LOT schedule as business convenient.
Interesting that they have over an hour turnaround time.

DeleteMassive subventions by the airport, that's how they only managed to make a tiny profit now after ten years when MA went bankrupt.
DeleteLittle longer turnaround time provides you with some buffer time in case flight is late...

Good for BEG to have some growth in their pocket for next year. This year has definitely been more than outstanding already!

DeleteYou are contradicting yourself here. If IEV is general code for Kiev, how could JU be switching to IEV, if that is not a particular airpot, but rather general code? IEV is IATA code for Zhuliany Airport, not the whole Kiev. Also, where did you get that information that JU is switching from KBP to IEV? That doesn't make any sense.

DeleteI just checked flights for BEG-LTN one way without anything and average fare is 8.612 Dinars or €72. That's not really cheap for an airlines like Wizz Air, no value for money.

DeleteI think LOT will struggle on this route. They're sending a huge plane on a destination with virtually non O&D and with very few onward connections. 737MAX was an excuse to delay the launch cause they learned they'll be massacrated in winter first and foremost by Air France/Delta, Swiss, Lufthansa, their own flights to Warsaw, last but not least Air Serbia. All of the competitors have numerous advantages in capacity, onwards network, service quality (LOT service is crap on long-haul) or O&D market where Air Serbia has an advantage. All in all this is looking like a misguided adventure.

DeleteWell Belavia axed them due to the fact that they did not have to make a stop in BUD anymore to have full flights to Minsk. They are able to do it now without BUD stop.

Don't know about you but I would rather have three weekly non-stop to MSQ than two flights that go via BUD. Like this everyone wins.
