NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia will add a third daily flight between Belgrade and Ljubljana on selected days starting this coming winter season for a total of seventeen weekly rotations between the two cities. The additional frequencies will operate in the afternoons, each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, departing the Serbian capital at 13.10, while the return service leaves Ljubljana at 15.10. The new flights will offer Slovenian travellers connections onto the airline’s flights from Belgrade to Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Rome, Milan, Prague, Podgorica, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich. Compared to the 2018/19 winter season, Air Serbia will operate an additional six weekly flights between Belgrade and the Slovenian capital. The airline is today also running three flights between the two cities to cater for passengers stranded by Adria Airways‘ demise, offering a total of 276 seats each way, with one Boeing 737-300 and two ATR72 aircraft.

DeleteOU could offer a bus from LJU to ZAG and then fly the passnegers via FRA to LUX for example. Would make sense. You get up at 5 in the morning and arrive in LUX at 19.30. Lost opportunity for OU.
Delete17 from BEG and 2 from INI in total 19 weekly flights! That's more than Vienna!

ReplyDelete1. Can't Wizzair fly from Skopje to Ljubljana 2 or 3 times x week? Is it Air Serbia (from Belgrade and Nis) taking all the market? 2. Why Wizzair is not starting Pristina to Ljubljana? Lack of passengers can't be a reason. No competition from Air Serbia on this route.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is that much demand to fill a whole A320 from SKP to LJU. JP used to fly with small planes.
DeleteLow cost carriers don't offer connections (or they charge an arm, a leg and the first born child for it). Wizz would have to establish new lines to LJU from other bases they operate.

DeleteTrue, but with a different focus. I'm not sure the passenger numbers are there to justify the route. I could be wrong - I don't have the numbers, it's just intuition.
DeleteI guess this is because now, all the connections with Balkan are dead now. And whoever wants to travel to the south from Slovenia via air, has to take Air Serbia and then change at Belgrade.
ReplyDeleteWell that or they can fly via MUC. Though I'm sure JU is cheaper since they fly the Atr. JU seems to be making the most from this situation.

Well done, Air Serbia. Slovenia became gold mine for JU and it should now position itself to keep one of the leading roles in LJU.
Funny how they wanted to destroy JU yet in the end they ended up destroying themselves.

DeleteThese flights also connect to KK, SU and A3. Great move for Belgrade and Ljubljana. LJU will have as many flights as TGD.

DeleteI think JU will increase LJU to a larger aircraft on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday since one way tickets from BEG are already selling for €410 one way. Slovenia will become a cash cow for Air Serbia.

AIr Serbia is offering extremely competitive rates (around 150 euros retrurn) on the Paris-LJU route with a 40 minutes stopover in Belgrade. 40 minutes eems a little short. Anyone with experience of this airline and the airport could comment on that?
ReplyDeleteTransferring at BEG is a breeze. It doesn't take more than 3 minutes to go from one gate to the other (arriving and departing passengers are all on the same floor). If your flight is a bit late, Air Serbia in 99% of cases waits for all transfer passengers.
