Air Serbia increases Tirana capacity

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will boost capacity on its flights between Belgrade and Tirana this coming winter season, with the airline to deploy the jet-engine Airbus A319 aircraft on selected days. The carrier plans to operate ten weekly flights between the two capital cities this winter, up from six last year, and will utilise the A319 jet each Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of the initially planned ATR72 turboprop. The growth in both frequencies and capacity is partly a result of increased demand due to the recent collapse of Adria Airways. Air Serbia will run eleven weekly flights between Belgrade and Tirana during the busy holiday period, between mid-December and mid-January.

Well passengers who were flying on JP need a new airline now and JU wants their business. I am sure advance bookings are good.

Seems like JU has also loaded some transfer options from LJU. I was looking at CPH and its quite good.

    CPH-BEG 09.5-11.40
    BEG-LJU 13.10-14.35

    LJU-BEG 15.10-16.25
    BEG-CPH 17.50-20.05

Hand luggage fares start from 16.132 Dinars or €140.

It is completely true re. toilets - when rush hours come, the BG airport becomes a total mess. The positive thing is that Serbian police got new passport scanners, the fastest I ever seen (scanning in 1-2 seconds). Otherwise, the passport control would be a total mess too.

Oh fantastic, transfers to Copenhagen are charged 140 Eur and AirSerbia has just send us last night super offer from Belgrade to Copenhagen for 208!
Super eco friendly (as we will end up flying with LH) and very considerable to Serbian citizens who are largely subsidising this AirSerbia saga.

So go on Lufthansa, who cares, stop polluting this portal with same stories each time. While you book your flight on LH do check how much they charge for non stop FRA CPH, probably €350.

    5. Anonymous21:28

Oh and I highly doubt you are subsidizing the JU saga since you can't even afford €208 to CPH.

Vinci can't keep BEG toilets clean even less so boost numbers at the airport. So far they only brought AF and seasonal W6 to LYS. Rest was all thanks to the growth of the Serbian market.

Spoken like a true ignoramus :) Some of the biggest companies in the world are French.

And are they making money or are they losing money they earned before the global markets opened to competition?

What is the French contribition to the world for the last say 30 years?

Google, amazon, ebay, netflix are all French?

French companies can thrive only as long as they have government protection, that's about it.

Transfers to wide network of JU flights

    2. Anonymous13:07

There are a lot of transfers from JFK and then a lot of passengers to Italy, Germany, Benelux... pretty much all of western and northern Europe.

    3. Anonymous10:12

If there are any transfer passengers to Italy on these flights, they are connecting in TIA and not BEG. If there is one country that is extremely well covered with direct and reasonably priced flights from Albania, it's Italy.

    4. Anonymous17:25

Doesn't matter, there are still some transfer passengers for one or other reason. JU might be cheaper or there might be more options, who knows why they chose to fly on JU.

With Wizz Air launching VIE-TIA this coming December, Austrian Airlines' yields will be severely affected. The same scenario that happened on VIE-ATH where both OS and A3 had to fight back and to experience a much worse business environment. This means JU will have an advantage as it won't be under pressure from OS which won't be able to dump prices for transfer passengers via VIE, especially not as their losses keep on increasing.

Wizz Air in Vienna is probably the best thing that could have happened to Air Serbia.

  11. I flew TIA - BEG early summer (ATR afternoon flight) and noticed about 30-40% of the passengers were transferring to connecting flights. Flight was about about 80% full.
