      SKG 820.904 (-2.3%)
      BEG 757.062 (+9.8%)
      SOF 674.443 (+2.1%)

SOF had a really bad September though, 622.615 or -4% compared to last year.

This is not the first time BEG had more passengers than SOF, I think it was also the case in July. I think winter in SOF will be really bad.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous14:26

SOF will still surpass 7m and strong November.
Plus, it will be difficult for BEG to maintain the same figures in 2020.
      SKG will recover, too.

BEG has been growing nicely year over year, this result this year is nothing new. Don't see why it won't be able to keep up this growth in 2020 when H1 will see all these new destinations we got in H2 2019.

With this pace, BEG will have one million passengers in August in next 4-5 years

So, with substantial growth coming in winter (combo of frequency increases, new flights and Adria demise shifting passengers to Belgrade) we're looking at somewhere between 6.1 and 6.2 million this year, which is amazing!

I think TIA will bring a lot new passengers. Three flights a week on A319!

      Delete
    2. George Dedic15:47

Interesting you mention TIA - had a look at flights on Skyscanner in mid November (week of 11-17th) out of LJU and TIA for the destinations that JU flies and saw some pretty astonishing things.

If you're looking to fly out of LJU your best choice hands down is JU via BEG looking at the prices and flight times for all of the following (some destinations best via BEG on ANY given day of that week and others best via BEG on certain dates):

Tirana, Skopje, Sarajevo, Tivat, Podgorica, Sofia, Bucharest, Athens, Thessaloniki, Tel Aviv, Beirut, Krasnodar, Larnaca, Cairo, Prague, Kiev, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Zurich, Dusseldorf, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Paris, New York.

For TIA the list is no less impressive either:

Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Moscow, Kiev, Krasnodar, Prague, Sofia, Vienna, Zurich, Paris, Barcelona, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Cairo (assuming noone flies to TGD due to proximity).

I thought that was astounding, so really it's no wonder JU is gearing up for a massive load of passengers in winter from those two destinations. And these passengers will all count twice in BEG airport figures as they're transfers (as per the norm in aviation). That's just insane. I know LJU is all due to Adria, but with TIA, was this the case last winter as well??

      Delete
    3. Anonymous16:21

Of course it was! Most of TIA-BEG pax are transfers (obviously) and the loads are great even during the weakest months

  10. Anonymous15:32

September will be interesting due to thousands of Adria passengers who flew through BEG.

  11. It would be very difficult to rely on LJU passengers in the long run if JU continues to send ancient ATR72s and 737 to LJU.

LH Group is not sitting idly by.

Vinci releases quarterly numbers soon so we will know in a couple of days how September looked like. If it was as strong as Jul/Aug or better, BEG would only need to repeat Q4 results from last year (0% growth) to pass 6 million for the year, so it looks very likely BEG will go beyond 6 mil mark.

      @00.23

Please stop trolling. Turkish Airlines does not fly 10 times per week to Belgrade. It flies 14 times per week. On occasion European points flown 14 weekly or more loose a flight in certain periods of the year for a very short time due to aircraft needed elsewhere. Same story with Zagreb in August/September with evening flight, or Skopje in late August/September with morning flight. In total, BEG had 3 flights that did not operate for the whole month. Somehow you managed to calculate that as them flying 10 weekly.

The runway is being refurbished, it's been going on for a while now.

Some sort of construction has begun around C7-10 remote stands, let's see what happens in the end.

Some photos of runway resurfacing surfaced on BEG instagram. Resurfacing alone is not enough for what RWY12-30 needs done in the long run but I am going to keep my mouth shut.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous22:38

Maybe it's a temporary solution until the inserted runway is completed? Honestly BEG needs a terminal expansion with more gates and shops. Next year it will most likely come close to 6.8 and current facilities are just not enough.
