NEWS FLASH
Croatian ACMI operator Trade Air plans to base an Airbus A320 jet in Ljubljana over the upcoming summer season, from April until November, in order to operate charter flights on behalf of Slovenian tour operators. The defunct Slovenian national carrier, Adria Airways, handled the bulk of leisure flights from Ljubljana over the past few years until its demise last September. Trade Air ran charters from Ljubljana to Hurghada in Egypt during the recent Christmas and New Year holiday period.
Meanwhile another Croatian airline thinks it's still early to react in any way to Adria's demise. Trade Air seems to be a well run business, they also operated TLV-BEG flights on behalf of Israir from time to time.

ReplyDeleteI know they were using the the name Sun Adria for a while on the aircraft. Personally I would like to see a name that reflects the Croatian coastline. I know It may sound boring, and it was used before but Air Adriatic sounds a lot better than Trade Air. Any other name ideas?

DeleteAll the vultures are trying to grab the meat from LJU. It seems that 2020 will be quite busy for the airport and once the new airport is ready in January 2021, things will become even more dynamic.
ReplyDeleteI was not aware that carriers were not introducing flights to LJU because they were dissatisfied with the already existing terminal building, so thanks for the clue that they were waiting for the opening of the new building in 2021

Not everything is bad news in Slovenia ;) the best is yet to come.
And you did not quite understand my sarcasm dear, since my point was that carriers are not waiting for a new terminal in LJU to launch flights there.
DeleteIf there was any demand, they would (have) launch(ed) flights to LJU with or WITHOUT a new terminal, nobody would wait until 2021 to do that.
No need for sarcasm, dear. LJU is currently expanding like never before with many new arrivals and mostly from prestigious, legacy carriers and big names such as Iberia, British.

DeleteLJU is a ghost airport. Employees happy that they can sleep in and and enjoy marathon coffee breaks. Two prime hotels in Ljubljana closed in the meantime. I think this is beyond sarcasm. Just sad, sad.

As for an even quieter airport - go Google for MBX...
