NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will today operate a rescue flight between Belgrade and Los Angeles, as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak. Under flight number JU1, the Airbus A330-200 will depart the Serbian capital at midday. The Los Angeles flight has been chartered for 64 American citizens in Serbia, stranded by last week’s closure of Belgrade Airport, and for the transport of medical supplies. The jet is expected to return to the Serbian capital tomorrow at 16.40. Rescue flights have been taking place all over the former Yugoslavia in recent weeks, however, at over twelve hours of flying time, the service to and from Los Angeles is expected to be one of the longest.
I was at @AeroNikolaTesla today making sure our U.S. citizens in #Serbia are OK and helping them get home safely. Хвала @SerbianGov and @AirSerbia for this heroic achievement! On behalf of my team here, I want to wish my fellow citizens a safe and speedy journey.

Out of curiosity, do passengers still have to pay for tickets, in this case LA - BEG? If yes, how do they determine how much do they need to pay.

No, they don't pay. You have to contact the embassy to be on the flight.
