Air Serbia has pushed back its resumption of commercial operations from April 13 until May 1 as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. Up until last weekend, it was selling tickets for services from Belgrade starting April 13. In a statement this afternoon, the company said, "Due to the global pandemic of the coronavirus and in accordance with the instructions of the competent state authorities, Air Serbia cancelled all its commercial flights for the transport of passengers until the end of April". Wizz Air, which also initially planned to resume services from the Serbian capital on April 13 has moved its service resumption by two weeks, pending government approval. Additional adjustments remain highly possible, depending on travel restrictions and traffic demand.
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport remains closed for commercial flights until further notice, while the airports in Niš and Kraljevo are closed until May 12. The Serbian carrier still has flights scheduled to launch to six new destinations out of Belgrade from June 1, including Amman, Chisinau, Geneva, Lviv, Rostov-on-Don and Florence, although their fate remains uncertain at this point. The carrier is also due to inaugurate services from Kraljevo to Thessaloniki in early May, however, these will have to be rescheduled due to the airport’s closure.
Air Serbia has been grounded since March 20 following the closure of all of the country’s airports for commercial traffic. Since then, it has been running an average of two daily flights to repatriate stranded citizens and bring medical supplies and aid. Rescue flights have so far been operated to Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Bratislava, Bucharest, Doha, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Larnaca, Los Angeles, London, Malta, Moscow, Paris, Stockholm, Tel Aviv, Thessaloniki, Vienna and Warsaw. More repatriation flights, including a service to the United States, are expected in the coming days. The airline has also run numerous flights to China to transport medical equipment and supplies. These have included operations to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu.

Btw the airport is clsoed until then because the government wants to avoid masses returning for Easter. Especially since 300.000 gastos returned in March and most of them were infected.

As for gastos that's what the officials said, I'm sure they know a thing or two. Novi Pazar has boomed these days because an infected baker from Slovenia worked and basically infected whoever entered his shop. As for not opening the airport right after Easter, they still want to avoid people coming before and around Easter festivities.

DeleteMost Serbs living in Germany moved during the 1960s and 1970s as Gastarbeiter or "Guest workers" when Serbia was part of Yugoslavia, this is quite normal and forms part of the history for nearly 50 years. No wonder why Serba is so well connected to the rest of Germany
DeleteASL was not flying to PRG. It was Smartwings, and the flight itself covered by companies employeeing our citizens (e.g. Brose, Panasonic etc.). So, Serbia had next to zero contributions there.

DeleteYes I am it is a current state narrative and it can be easily checked and proved it the newspapers, TV, online portals etc. ASL has luckily diversified so they are not relying entirely on flying gastos flights so it would be nice to know how will this affect ASL flying when all this ends.

DeleteairBaltic received €150 million from the government. Hopefully JU gets as much so they can keep on building a major hub from which the whole region will benefit. BEG has many unique destinations compared to many other Balkan airports.

DeleteThats exactly the point. I do not think it is the end of aviation. I just say that it will take much longer to recover than many here believe. I am in the business and see what effect it has on everyone. Even big players like LH and BA said it will take many years to get back to pre Corona levels. And it is experts saying that.

I didn't say things will return to normal next month, I said SOME measures will be lifted next month which will result in some air traffic being resumed. I don't think it will go back to pre-corona levels in many years to come either but I believe that the airport will reopen for commercial flights next month.

Sweden has not taken so drastic measures as all other countries and if we prolonged the no fly time to 15th of june (its a rec not a ban), im sure other countries in europe who alredy has several bans not just in flying but in everyday life they will most deff prolong it aswell, germany is heading in up in deaths and they have not yet resched its peak, and im sure italy, spain, france dont want to open their borders as its going down and stabilizing. You can forget about traveling to at least mid may i would assume even longer, your stupid if you think you will be able to travel freely in apr/may.
