€151 million in claims against Adria Airways

NEWS FLASH

Adria Airways’ creditors have reported 151 million euros in claims against the company, which has been in receivership since last October. However, the bankruptcy administrator, Janez Pustatičnik, has approved only 87.7 million euros in claims. Among them, the largest claim at 6.6 million euros has been made by Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines. The two carriers wet-leased Adria’s aircraft. Jet owner AeroCentury has four million euros in claims, while the Rolls Royce Corporation has 2.2 million. Former Adria Airways staff are demanding a total of 15.5 million euros in unpaid wages, to be split among 500 employees. Adria Airways’ former CEO, Holger Kowarsch, has 67.600 euros in claims, while the carrier’s former Managing Director, Sven Kukemelk, is claiming 47.700 euros. Other claimants include Bank of America Merrill Lynch, EIC Aircraft Leasing, Sasof III Aviation Ireland, 8900973 Canada, Fraport Slovenija and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank. The administrator is hoping to raise the finances through the sale of Adria Airways’ remaining assets.

Leaving out the variable of different pays due to different positions, a rough estimate is that each employee is entitled to 30k.
Is it because they were paid very well or is it because they did not get paid for some months before Adria went bankrupt?

They did not get paid for some time but that figure also includes taxes, pension payment etc. So it should be the gross wage that they will be paid, not net.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring up the salary question.

For the sake of settling the age old discussion if the wages were too low or too high at JP, I scrolled the claims list. it is indeed very interesting the very big difference between some of the employees based on their title or. function on the company. There are distinctive groups of claims: ground staff and flight attendants claim in the range of 10-15k eur, FOs are in the 30k range, regular captains then in thw 50-60k range. After that for a handfull of guys the claims really jump - 130-140-150k eur. And the winner is the operations manager - 245k EUR claim.

Of course those figures are unpaid gross wages (with all associated benefits), unused leave, and severance pay. If all employees were not paid for the same time period, we can see some very big differences between the "old farts" and the younger guys.

While I wont comment on the other guys, the Operation manager's salarary was for an airline of JP's size very very generous (assuming the he wasn't un-paid for a longer perioud, which I doubt).

My initial post was not in the direction that somebody at Adria was paid too much or not, I was just surprised by the total amount of claims former employees had, so thanks for this clarification.
Btw, what is a Job description of an operational manager?

Reimbursed by your credit card company and now the credit card company is claiming that money from the bankruptcy administrator.

  8. Well they want 100,000 Euros for the Adria name!! Hmmm someone may pay 100 Euros
just for nostalgia sake, so let*s see that would only leave 150,999,900 Euros to collect!!
