LOT Polish Airlines will resume international flights from July 1 with the airline publishing a preliminary schedule until July 14. During the two-week period, the carrier will restore operations from Warsaw to the Croatian coast - Split, Dubrovnik and Zadar - as well as Podgorica. The carrier will also go ahead with the launch of its new Budapest - Dubrovnik service on July 4, while the remainder of its network from Hungary won’t commence until at least July 15. From Warsaw, the carrier will run two weekly flights to Split and Dubrovnik, and one weekly service to Zadar and Podgorica. The Budapest - Dubrovnik flights will operate once per week. “For the first two weeks of July, the network of LOT’s international flights has been planned with passenger safety in mind, which is always a priority for us, and to ensure comfort during travel. Most of the proposed routes are to Schengen countries, which have a stable epidemic situation and at the same time have abolished the quarantine obligation and other restrictions for travellers coming from other countries. Our passengers can therefore plan their holidays, short recreational trips or business trips with confidence, knowing that they will be able to fully enjoy their journey abroad. At the same time, we strive to resume new directions and increase the frequency of flights", LOT's CEO, Rafał Milczarski, said.

DeleteIt is strange that the state does not allow them to fly to US/Canada/Japan/Korea/India with pax as they are flying anyway on these routes cargo-only regular flights with empty pax seats. Loosing money.

ReplyDeleteActually, Poland is not on the Slovenian "safe countries list". So there are restrictions for Polish citizens entering Slovenia and it doesn't make sense for LOT to fly to LJU.
DeleteGuys read the article. They have published their timetable until the 15th of July meaning they still haven't made a timetable after the 15th of July. So Zagreb, Belgrade won't launch before the 15th at the earliest.

ReplyDeleteSeems like corona has brought about the total collapse of LO. Only goes to show how fake and artificial their growth was in the past.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think so? Until now they didn't need any liquidity help from the state, so to me seem to be going not that bad, circumstances included. Given that Poland already pumped some 20 bln USD into businesses as a corona aid, I don't expect couple of hundred mlns USD for LO could be a problem, specially that any state help up to 250 mln USD per single entity is already precleared by Poland with the EC.

ReplyDeleteThey already set up a new company "LOT Polish Airlines" which will take over. God knows what about the people who didnt get their money back for tickets yet, me included.
Well it was nice while it lasted but they were a big mess for a while now.
DeleteA good lesson to be learned and followed. They are playing hardball with the lessors: either these lessors concede and reduce leasing fees to take a coronavirus hit or LO will probably go through a so-called pre-pack involvency or through restructuring and will continue to exist but without all those contracts that are now no longer market standard as to leasing fees. And only then tax money will be pumped into it. There is no reason why tax money should prop up foreign lessors, so that they get fees that maybe were market pre-corona but no longer are. These lessors are acting as if there were no corona. They are just spoiled by public aid going into airlines left and right and that without the proper restructuring of the lease agreements. All that money only props up these lessors at the expense of the tax payers.
DeleteAnd remember: the lease terms agreed now will very much decide the competitiveness of an airline for the next five years. If a given airline exists the crises with too high leasing fees, the crises will come back to it.
Gotta luv dem bipolar comments. The other day everyone was hailing LO and their success and now suddenly everything changes 2 months later. The same goes for W6. One day you hate them, next day you love them.

DeleteHave flights to Warsaw from Chicago on Aug 25 with return from krakow to Chicago Sept 6. Think Lot will cancel? Tickets non refundable and do not want credit to use another time. Third party booking who said they would contact Lot.
ReplyDeleteSince there is still some time, I would wait. They said in their press release that they are working on resuming flights to the US as soon as possible.
DeleteBy 25 August ORD will be back. They are already flying four weekly to ORD cargo-only. They cannot take pax because, due to corona, US, just like UK, is not on a list of countries that under Polish law may have pax flights to/from Poland. Only charter flights with the approval of the Polish gov are allowed to US for now.
