NEWS FLASH

Hainan Airlines operated a chartered flight between Chongqing and Dubrovnik over the weekend, marking its first arrival in the city. An Airbus A330-200 jet carried Chinese construction workers employed on the Pelješac Bridge project. Similarly, late last week, the same aircraft was deployed between Chongqing and Belgrade, also carrying Chinese construction workers. Due to various travel restrictions faced by Chinese nationals, construction companies are now chartering local carriers to operate nonstop flights to countries in which they are undertaking infrastructure projects.

Why are they bringing Chinese people to work on construction projects? Don't we have our own or have they all left to Germany?

It's a well known condition of all Chinese loans for infrastructure projects - Chinese money = contracting Chinese companies = Chinese construction workers.

Croatia has an issue with (not only) construction workers. More than 50 %of construction workers in Croatia come from BIH. GP Krk has significant number of Indian construction workers. Also there are construction and other workers (shipyards in particular) from Romania and Ukraine
