NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia will increase its number of operations between Belgrade and New York in October with plans to operate 34 flights during the month, ten more compared to October 2019. Next month, a total of 8.636 seats will be offered to the Big Apple, which is a 41.7% increase compared to the 6.096 seats available during the same period last year. “Due to increased demand, we have decided to increase the capacity on our New York flights. We are very happy that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, this route is still doing well and it has proved to be one of Air Serbia’s top routes”, the airline’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, Jiri Marek, said. Air Serbia has operated a total of 758 return flights to New York up until this August since launching services to the city in June 2016. The Serbian carrier has seen its overall operations increase across its network in recent weeks.

ReplyDeleteGiven that the flights are in high demand JU should raise the prices for JFK and increase profits and take the bite off the previous losses. It might also increase the chances of another aircraft.
DeleteI think their biggest problem from October to March was the low utilisation of the 330. This year that's no longer the case.

DeleteI should of written it better, my bad. The system was showing 1 pw for a week or 2, in february 2021 I think, but its now showing 2 pw. Perhaps it was a glitch.

Where are AS JFK rout haters this morning :)? There is even more room to increase to 5 a week over winter and 6 over winter holidays .
ReplyDeleteThis can boost both their European and regional network as many can't fly normally as most flights have been cancelled. I don't think UA is even flying to Europe at the moment.

DeleteI saw that they fly from IAH and EWR to FRA and from SFO to MUC. There are probably more flights because I just took a small glimpse to their Covid-19-network for September.
Also, UA flies IAD and ORD to FRA, IAH to AMS and EWR to MUC.

ReplyDeleteYYZ was supposed to be next, while there was talk for flights to China to be launched. BEG was one of the most underserved destinations from PVG. Maybe they could do 3 pw for both.

DeleteI think they profited the most from the EU transfer ban so thank you Mr Trump for that! I also noticed that TK is struggling quite a bit as well, i don't think they have more than 5 weekly to JFK right now.

ReplyDeleteIs Air Serbia going to have a service to Budapest anytime soon? If yes, I would even consider choosing JU over the Lufthansa group for my upcoming visit to Hungary... I looked at it and prices are in the $600-700 range, which is a steal...
ReplyDeleteAir Serbia dosen't plan to fly to Hungary. But LOT is supposed to launch Budapest-Belgrade at the start of the winter season.

True, I can take a car. By the way, glad to see such an active (regional) commercial aviation news site out here, with a lot of active commenting. I am originally from Hungary, living in the US, and it is truly sad to see how provincial the BUD airport has been (forget about covid now), even one of the most significant aviation sites (budflyer) is completely irrelevant, no commenting at all, I frequently come here if i want to get uptospeed on what is happening in the region. DeleteBUD was tipped to be launched this year amongst others, but they apparently had a shortage of aircraft and never went ahead with it. OSL was the same, but in the end they launched it, so who knows.
