NEWS FLASH

The expansion of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport continues to progress, with work advancing on the expansion of the C concourse which is now close to being linked with the existing building, while preparatory work for the expansion and reconstruction of the A concourse is ongoing. Furthermore, work on Belgrade Airport’s new 75-metre control tower is on schedule to be completed in September 2021, while it will be put into operation in February 2022, once all equipment is fitted inside and tested. The five-month period will also allow for training and familiarisation programs to enable the safe transition from the existing facilities to the new control tower operation.

Looking at the picture, seems like C7 might no longer exist once the expansion is complete... I suppose it will become an airbridge kind of gate.

Which is good. Because, now when you are boarding through to C7 for ATR, you had to carry your cabin baggage by those stairs down, which was not so simple task, especially since you are paying service to the airport. For example for A4a and A4b there are escalators

What are they doing with glass between A3 and A4? Those airbridges are new and I do not know what they should reconstruct there, old airbridges are A6-10. Someone?

Who knows, maybe they will turn A3-A4 into a widebody gate?

They are building an additional floor. They will need to put a kind of attachment to the jetbridge which goes up to that level. It's common at most airport.

For example you can see in this photo what I'm talking about

BEG will be quite nice and modern once this is complete. I can't wait for it to be all finished. Hopefully the situation starts improving from spring 2021.

If Switzerland, Russia and Crna Gora go well, then BEG goes well. After all, those 3 countries make up around 45% of the BEG traffic.

Montenegro and Switzerland are already performing ok from BEG so that's something and Russia is slowly opening its doors to the world. I remain confident things are looking up for Belgrade. I would also add that Germany is also important, it's the single biggest market out of BEG.

To be fair, it won't be modern until there's a rail link to the center, then you might see a boom in w/e tourists from all across Europe for whom convenience is a must.

I do not think a rail link with the city is what drives thousands of tourists to visit a country... after all Israeli, Chinese and Turks are coming in large numbers without a rail link. What BEG has going for itself is that Belgrade is turning into a fantastic city, major city and with Sava Centar being sold today it will be turned into a spiffing MICE center. I expect demand for air travel to return to where it was real fast, two years, max.

I really don't think that a rail link to the city will lead to a boom in tourists from Western Europe. I would think that any tourists planning a trip to Beograd won't be deterred because there is to rail link. Tourists look for cheap flights, convenient dates, availability of hotel deals, and if there is some event in the city they wish to see. But a rail link? Don't think it is much of a factor.

Rail/metro is perhaps the only really missing part for BEG, I agree with the above.
That said, even OTP will have this link next month:

      https://www.romania-insider.com/bucharest-airport-railway-link-open-december-2020

Basically, it is only BEG in the region that will be needing an airport station anytime. SOF has metro since April 2015.

True dat. It would be great if BEG had a rail link. But I don't see BEG getting a rail link in the next five years. And to be realistic, they don't really need one before then.

The ticket to the downtown area is extremely cheap: €0,80 and in VNO it is €0,70 from their airport.
