NEWS FLASH

New Italian carrier EGO Airways, which intends on launching operations in the summer of 2021 has announced plans to introduce services between Milan Malpensa Airport and Ljubljana. The carrier has a single Embraer E190 jet in its fleet. The Slovenian capital will initially be the carrier’s only international destination, with Verona, Venice, Florence, Pisa and Pescara forming the rest of its route network. The company said it wants to link major Italian cities with the Malpensa hub and feed traditional carriers through codeshare agreements, while also serving minor airports with poorer connectivity.

Interesting, let's see how this impacts OU from ZAG.

Why would this impact them? It has more sense for people from LJU to go by car to Milan, then drive to ZAG and then fly with OU.

Well for one I wouldn't rather drive to Milan than catch a flight from ZAG. it's easier and more comfy

than you are not traveling to Milan that often. Imagine you are from Ljubljana. Before you come to Zagreb Airport you need to drive 1,5H (and waiting at the boarder). you need to be there at least one hour before your flight. Than you need to cross boarder again (which means again in Milan - together with all non schengen flights). and than from malpensa you need another 45min to reach Milan center. In the mean time you can reach Milan by car in cca 5 hours (depends where in Milan and which hour). If you are traveling alone - the most confy way from SLO to Milan is driving to italian boarder and than switch to train. Believe me, i travel to Milan from Slovenia at least 15 times a year. I think this route wont work. the only one I think could work is Ljubljana - Linate (after they finish underground). that would be the fastest way to Milan and also once you are there quite simple and fast to reach any point in Milan.

Well i think this route will be mostly for transfers, as they will launch domestic flights in Italy. Florence, Pisa, Pescara and more.

I lived in Milan but I am from around Ljubljana. I do not have a car, not many people do who live and work in Milan so what am I supposed to do? Also once you factor in petrol and tolls I doubt it could be that cheap or at least cheaper than by plane which should be around 45 minutes.

Well many people use prevoz.org (25€ one way), for business the cheapest way is train (from the border) if there are 3 ppl traveling than car is by far the cheapest one. If the price is right, than it might work - but as i said Linate would be better for P2P travelers ... hopefully it works out! and they add also rome hehe
