Ukrainian carrier Windrose Airlines launched flights between Kiev and Podgorica yesterday, connecting the two cities with a nonstop air service for the first time. The flights will run twice per week with the 49-seat Embraer E145 aircraft, operated under the Dniproavia brand which has been merged into Windrose. Commenting on the new service, the spokeswoman of operator Airports of Montenegro, Marina Miketić Nikolić, said, “It has been confirmed that flights from Kiev to Podgorica are full for the next two weeks. After that we have the Christmas and New Year holidays. We hope this new service will significantly improve the dynamic of air transport and tourism in Montenegro”. A total of forty passengers arrived on the inaugural flight from Kiev, while a further 45 departed Podgorica for the Ukrainian capital. “We have organised the arrival of thirteen important Ukrainian tour operators to Montenegro between December 5 and 8, which will visit our winter resorts and review our offer”, the spokeswoman of the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, Nina Vukčević, noted. Over the winter season, Windrose will operate a total of 34 flights from Kiev to Podgorica and offer a total of 1.666 one-way seats. In 2019, over 60.000 Ukrainian nationals visited Montenegro, accounting for 460.000 over-night stays in the country.
Those loads are excellent in these circumstances. Especially considering there is a curfew in Montenegro.
