The construction of Ljubljana Jože Pučnik’s Arport new terminal building is progressing on schedule with the majority of the structure completed. According to operator Fraport, most of the work is now taking place inside the new facility. Equipment such as the security system, lighting and computer equipment is now being installed. The baggage handling system, scanners and escalators have already been put in place in order for Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) exercises to begin at the end of March. Training for the new facility is expected to begin as early as this month. The new terminal, which stretches over 10.000 square metres and features a new departures hall with 22 check-in counters, five security lanes and three baggage carousels, is expected to open in July.

DeleteLike on any other airport, when the crisis is over, passengers will eventually come back. I'm glad to see the progress on the new terminal and looking forward to using it this summer.
Me too! Instead of complaining be the "missing passenger". Already booked 5 flights from Ljubljana - can't wait to use this new terminal.

Won't happen without a carrier having LJU as a base. Clearly, none so far seemed sufficiently interested. Just check the SUTT for Swiss...who do they expect to fly to ZRH with LJU departure at 7:40PM and almost no connecting flights left at ZRH after arrival. Not to mention it is still a mistery to me, why they got even a cent of subsidies in November.

DeleteIt was meant as sarcasm as we can only see parked aircrafts at LJU and not operating one. That will remain the same as long as national carrier won't be established..

that had nice "home" feeling.
Lets also not forget the arrival of the new charters to Turkey and Tunis this summer. Leisure destinations are important!
DeleteLJU has more than enough passengers, the only thing missing are the airlines. People need to go to VCE, ZAG and simmilar because of the lack of airlines flying to LJU.

Deletesad reality is, that with much less frequenicies, the new building is oversized and will be for next 5-10 years. Remember 2008 crisis? It took 5 years for traffic to return to pre-crisis levels.

And on the other hand please go and see yourself the old terminal ... it looks like s**t. thank god they are building new one. Also not finishing would cost them more than finishing what they started plus new terminal is not for next 5 years but for next 30 years.

Well, it seems that easyJet will be happy and might even increase its capacity in LJU. It is by far, the largest carrier. According to the news today, easyJet saw a surge of +250% in bookings for summer!! This will most likely mean more flights to London. Like many other EU capitals, London is the busiest route e.g. OTP, WAW, SOF, RIX.

DeleteOn some months, there will even be daily flights to LTN and 5 weekly flights to LGW. And if BA resume flights from LHR this means a total of up to 17 weekly flights to 3 different London airports, which is pretty decent.

It was like that from the beginning of the time :) At least my time :) Both JAT and Adria had numerous weekly charters between LJU and several UK destinations 30,40, 50 years ago, plus JAT had 3 weekly scheduled LJU to LHR on B727, year round, always full. And the differences at that times were even bigger than today with EU /non EU situation. Why? I don't know, but Britons were always interested in SLO
