Osijek Airport issues public call to LCCs

NEWS FLASH

Osijek Airport is seeking low cost carriers (LCCs) to launch flights to the city by offering start-up aid. It issued a public call yesterday inviting interested airlines to submit their applications, including the number of routes and frequencies planned, whether operations would be year-round or seasonal, passenger forecasts, the type and amount of incentives required, as well as whether the carrier would be interested in establishing a base in the city. Osijek Airport is currently served by Croatia Airlines and Trade Air, which maintain domestic flights from the city. Over the years, the likes of Wizz Air, Ryanair Air and Eurowings served Osijek. The airport handled 6.626 passengers in 2020, down 85.7% on the year before. The deadline for the submission of interest through the public call lasts until February 28.

I hope Wizz will return, at least from BSL, the flights were mostly full.

I think they operated that flight from BEG base and therefore Belgrade had terrible flying times to BSL.
I hope it won't happen again.

That was the case back then, but it doesn’t mean the flight would be done with an aircraft from Belgrade if they decide to return.

    2. Coastal towns are already very well served (in summer) by FR and EI, and yes this caters to both diaspora VFR traffic and tourists, so I'm not sure how much of a case RJK has, being squeezed in between PUY and ZAD.
Now OSI with its catchment area would be a pure diaspora destination, for sure.

I guess that you can say the same about Tuzla — Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Belgrade are really close, and we all know that Tuzla story worked wonders.
