NEWS FLASH

Ryanair will commence a new two weekly service between Vienna and Niš starting July 3. Flights will be operated by its subsidiary Lauda Europe’s Airbus A320 aircraft each Tuesday and Saturday. It will compete directly against Wizz Air, which plans to restore its two weekly Vienna - Niš service on April 28. Commenting on the new service Ryanair’s Sales & Marketing Manager for CEE & Balkans, Olga Pawlonka, said, "We are pleased to announce a new Niš to Vienna route, commencing on July 3, 2021 as part of our Serbian Summer 2021 schedule. Mindful that Covid restrictions change regularly, customers can now book flights for a well-deserved break knowing that if they need to postpone or change their travel dates, they can do so up to two times with a zero-change fee until the end of October 2021. To celebrate this new Niš route, we are launching a seat sale with fares available from just 24.99 euros for travel until the end of October 2021, which must be booked by midnight Sunday, March 21". Further details for Ryanair’s new flights can be found here.

Do SOF and SKP have LCC flights to Vienna?

SOF has both VIE and BTS LCC flights. VIE is the second busiest route after London.

It would be nice to fly from BEG to VIE for 25 Euros, not for 100 at minimum

Huh? Wizz used to be dirt cheap at times on this route, return 12 EUR, without luggage. But not always of course.

Petrol alone costs around €2500 per segment on OS' E95. That means that cost alone per passenger is €21. Do you honestly think €25 fares are realistic from BEG?

AirSerbia is flying for 45€, including hand baggage. What do you need more?

BEG-VIE €45 one way maybe. That seems about correct. It's an ok price for air travel.

People, everywhere, would complain if it was 1 euro. People really do not understand how much it costs to run an airline. As mentioned earlier, 2500 euros worth of petrol. We have to then consider the wages of the onboard crew, airport fees, even tge cost of a glass of water. There are more costs involved too. Maintenance is also very expensive. Payroll is probably the second most expensive cost. Not just the wage but benefits too.

That's because people believe it's a myth that LCCs are cheap. They are low COST not low fare airlines. Huge difference. Airlines like Wizz Air will still charge you €250 without luggage to fly from BEG to BVA and still treat you like cattle.

It's not a myth. I used to fly with LCCs a lot when I was student. I flew almost 50 times with Ryanair with the average price of all my flight standing at 3,31€, 60 times WizzAir with the total average price of my tickets was 15,33€. I also flew many times SkyEurope, AviaNova, HK Express, EasyJet, Volaris, LionAir, Cebu, Niki, CitiLink, Gol, AirAsia, Peach, Viva... and I have never ever noticed any treatment/service difference between all those ULCC airlines and some legacy carriers such as JAT, AirSerbia, Alitalia, SAS, Hainan, except for the huge price difference. Even more ULCCs were a way more punctual with a far less cancellations than the legacy
