NEWS FLASH
Turkish leisure carrier SunExpress will cancel its new seasonal service between Antalya and Ljubljana at the end of the week. The last flight has been scheduled for this Friday, July 16. Services commenced in mid-June and were initially scheduled to run until October 8. Flights were maintained twice per week with the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

DeleteAeroflot, Air France, Air Serbia, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Easyjet, Iberia, LOT, Lufthansa, Swiss, Transavia, Turkish, Wizzair, Montenegro Airlines, Israir and Windrose had plans to fly to LJU last year. 16 airlines.

Deleteand why is there demand from other airports in region? because people do travel more than Slovenians? No! It's because of schedule, if you don't have proper schedule to fly in/out of country then passengers will choose other airport.
DeleteThere was never any logic for this line to make a succes. Plans for this line started in 2018, maybe it would be possible then. But today, to make 3 flights per week to one single destination, holiday destination even, it's lunatic. Turkish Airlines is having 3 flights per week with it's wast network.. How do you expect same number of flights with only point-to-point traffic?

From nearby Rijeka you can fly with them to places like: Olsztyn-Mazury, Szczecin, Zielona Góra ...

Well Slovenia is indeed a very small market with little or no diaspora. Which, in the end, is always a good thing. I prefer to have less traffic at the main airport then to have half of the country, and most young people, abroad. On top of that, what little tourist interest there might be is dampened by the lunatic government that is intent on keeping SLO isolated from the rest of the world, in the hopes of turning it into another HU and Mr Janša into the next Orbán.
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, you can't compare foreign tourists trends in SLO and HU: right now they are many foreign tourist coming to HU: lake Balaton is full of them and Budapest is starting to accept them too.
DeleteWhere did yo get the idea that Orban is keeping HU isolated from the world? It's one sided propaganda. The situation on the field is quite different.

DeleteTry not to believe everything you see on RTV or POP TV. I'm pretty sure your two idols, Mrs. Black Mamba and Mr. Serpenrinsek had something to do with the current airline disaster in Slovenia. Let's face it, no national carrier, no traffic. Simple. Unfortunately, some hard headed people have trouble understanding that Slovenia is an unimportant market.
Those are the same people that cycle every Friday and believe everything they hear/see on RTV and POP TV.
