NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and Zagreb Airport have been named among the top ten best in Eastern Europe at the 2021 Skytrax World Airport Awards. Belgrade Airport was placed seventh among Eastern Europe’s best airports, down two places from 2019's rank (no awards were held in 2020). It marks the sixth consecutive time it has placed inside the top ten. On the other hand, Zagreb was featured on the list for the second time, placing ninth. No airport in the region was among the top 100 best airports in the world, with Doha’s Hamad Airport taking the title the first time. The 2021 World Airport Awards were based on millions of customer nominations across 100 nationalities of air travellers and included 500 airports worldwide.

The World Airport Awards are considered the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry voted by customers in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The evaluation took place between August 2020 and July 2021. It is the sixth time in over twenty years of the award’s history that two airports from the former Yugoslavia have entered the top ten of any category, which includes the world’s best airport, most improved airport, airport with the best staff, best security and best transit airport, to name a few. According to Skytrax, the survey and awards process is independent and guaranteed free of any airport influence or interference in final results. It evaluates customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product - from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate.

Bože sačuvaj i sakloni. I can only imagine what the airports ranked below these two are like if these two are "good".

I still don't get how one can vote?! Do I get invitation? Or register somewhere? Or airport invites me?

I know this is prestigious, but I think airports can influence theirs results. Also it looks like more passengers you have better score you make, which is a bit strange for qualitative evaluation.
Just looking at the East Europe, if Budapest is the best, then I don't know how the others are?! From my experience, not Zagreb and Belgrade are better airport that Budapest is.

It's no longer prestigeus, it used to be once upon a time before they started accepting bribes. Are you aware that Skytrax awarded Lufthansa a 5 star status while some other airlines like EK had 4? It's crazy.

Still BEG roof is not made of cheap farm metal roof sheathing. Makes new airport look like metal sausage. LMAO

Don't read too much into these rankings. Heathrow is one of the worlds worst airports in any category. It's right up there with Kennedy and Madrid. No way is it top 10.

      MAD??? Lol!
Miroslave, you are probably in America and have no clue about European airports. I have used MAD a million times and it is a VERY good airport.

MAD T4 is good, try transfer from T1 to T3, you'd have to walk 1km to get out of T1 long corridors, then 2 km to T3, with rare moving walkways. No, Barajas is not a very good airport. It's big and important for Latin America connections, but very good it is not.
