NEEWS FLASH

Ryanair based its second aircraft in Zagreb on Tuesday with a third to follow on December 1. The second jet, an Airbus A320 operated by its subsidiary Lauda Europe, ushered the introduction of nine new routes from the Croatian capital, including Sandefjord, Baden Baden, Beauvais, Memmingen, Hahn, Dortmund, Podgorica, Weeze and Malmo, complementing the six previously introduced over the summer. “We are delighted to deliver a second based aircraft to Zagreb as part of our expansion in Croatia. This is part of a $300 million investment and will play an important role in supporting tourism recovery at Croatia’s capital as Ryanair delivers robust connectivity all year round. With nine new summer routes starting from this week - and a total of 24 in winter - our customers will be spoiled for choice when planning late summer holidays to the likes of Sofia, Paris, Rome and many more”, Ryanair’s Sales and Marketing Manager for CEE and Balkans, Olga Pawlonka, said. Zagreb Airport’s Route Development Manager, Yavuz Aytis, noted, “We are more than happy to welcome Ryanair’s second based aircraft at Zagreb Airport and proud to announce the launch of nine new routes starting from this week. Citizens of Zagreb and the surrounding region will have greater and more affordable options to fly directly, while Zagreb’s increased accessibility will lead to the fast recovery of its tourism and economy. Zagreb Airport will continue to work hard to expand its network, provide much deserved direct and affordable flight options to both Zagreb’s citizens and visitors, and to convert our beautiful capital city into a centre of attraction for European travellers”.

Zagrebers would like Croatia Airlines to survive. Hoping for state intervention and financial aid is not realistic any more. Ryanair and other legacies will take over in couple of years.

What I like most is that OU have decided not to do anything about this problem in their own backyard.
