NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will increase its frequencies between Belgrade and Ljubljana this month in response to increased demand. The airline will introduce an additional two weekly rotations between the two capitals for a total of nine weekly flights starting November 14. The additional departures will run on Fridays and Sundays. All services will be operated by the ATR72 turboprop aircraft. Initially, the airline planned to run seven weekly flights between the two cities this winter season.

I think Slovenia is too small to be served via two airports by a single airline.

1X weekly to maribor (winter schedule), 1x portoroz (summer schedule) would def work for ASL

You would need at least 2-3x weekly, year round to have some sort of consistency, and decent return options. Even though most of the passengers would be transfers, I would assume. (could be wrong though).

ATR is weight restricted in POW which means the flight could never be full.

no restriction for ATR, A320 type and similar etc, at MBX can land even A330 but with restriction.

Perhaps MBX could be an option once 3 daily is established and JU start sending the A319 on BEG-LJU. I'm sure MBX would offer JU discounts to at least have an airline operating there.

@sloavio no restrictions.MBX handled already several flights by AN124 (Antonov Airlines & Volga-Dnepr) so the mentioned A330 is easy one....

Not necessarily. An-124 is a quad-jet and might have a shorter takeoff run than A330.

For instance A340 has shorter takeoff run than A330 although it's a larger aircraft.

Alr8 Andrej, did not know that. I thought that was the info last time I spoke with one of the guys working at the ATC. Good to know. Are there different restrictions for pax ac and cargo ac?

What I don't understand is why isn't JU flying to Split in summer. It's about the same size as Ljubljana and I think there is a lot of potential.

True, 2-3x weekly could work with the ATR in winter.

Having a full summer season for both SPU and DBV would be great as a start. At least daily flights in the summer, perhaps 9 pw with 2 extra morning flights for JFK connections.

Agree. Maybe not 3x weekly but still, there is definitely potential demand.
