The expansion and modernisation of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is continuing to advance, with extensive reconstruction of the area in front of the terminal building now taking place, which includes the modernisation of access roads, parking lots and the extension of the terminal to make place for centralised check-in and security procedures. This part of the project involves the shifting of the existing drop-off and pick up area and the extension of the check-in hall through the construction of a completely new zone. Check-in will be centralised with some 100 check-in desks. Passengers will then proceed to the first floor for centralised security checks, after which they will enter a large duty-free area. The first phase of the landside work will be completed by May, after which parts of the area in front of the terminal will be reopened. However, the entire project will be completed next year and involves a total of ten phases.
The airport is also testing different features of its recently completed expanded C concourse wing prior to it being opened to the public this spring.
Work on the existing Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 buildings are continuing to take place, both in the check-in and departures area. The construction of the arrivals corridor, or a new floor, is also advancing.
The new control tower, a separate project being carried out simultaneously by the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency, is also advancing with construction work expected to be completed soon.
Can't wait for April when the new passenger terminal opens for us! It's going to be epic.
ReplyDeleteApril will be KLM's month in BEG. That's when they are increasing flights to 14 and scheduling the E2 to BEG.
DeleteGood luck getting all completed, tested and in use by April. C1 and C2 renovation does not seem to be on track for April opening while reno work on C3-C6 has not been started. New C7-C14 extension has not been fully connected to old C concourse so far.
DeleteC7 to C14 will be opened and they are testing everything now, airbridges were already cleared. Please no hate.
DeleteOf course, this is just love for the airport and concern it would not be ready by April. Pictures shows that third level (second floor) for arriving passengers above A1-A4 has not been connected to the third level being constructed above or next to existing C1-C6 concourse. It will take a lot of effort for that part to be connected, tested and become functional, so is it realistic to expect it in April?
DeleteMy friend no one said the whole project will be completed by April, only the additional C gates that were built will be put to use. I suppose they will also finish C1-C2 by then which will allow them to close the remaining C gates.
DeleteArriving and departing passengers will still mix until the whole project is completed.
Then you will have A1 to A4 which are renovated, C1 and C2 plus the C7 to C14.
C3/4/5/6 as well as A5/6/7/8/9/10 will be renovated over time.
BEG will get additional bus gates in the C extension so airlines like Wizz Air, easyJet, Pegasus... can be moved to remote stands as well as those sending turboprops to Belgrade like Luxair, Tarom and Windrose.
Saturday 08 Jan SU2091 A330 de-icing took 20+ minutes because AP BEG has only one de icing vehicle in working order. So regardless of construction progress BEG airport still behaving as a provincial airport.
ReplyDeleteWhy it seems (on photos 2 and 4) like they are building one structure adjacent to another finished one, with existing exterior wall/glass in between? Is it temporary or?

DeleteI wouldn't worry about an occasional de-icing issue. Belgrade really has a mild winter.
