State to acquire third jet for Air Montenegro

NEWS FLASH

The Montenegrin government has confirmed plans it will acquire an Embraer E195 aircraft for state carrier Air Montenegro. The jet, registered 40-AOC owned by the Brazilian BNDS bank, was previously operated by the now defunct Montenegro Airlines. The aircraft has been grounded since December 26, 2020. Initially, Air Montenegro was to acquire the jet itself, however, informed the state last month it did not have sufficient finances. Air Montenegro plans to dry lease a larger jet, from either the Airbus A320-family or the Boeing 737 family this April, at the earliest. The carrier currently boasts a fleet of two Embraer E195s.

It is allowed if they put Government of Montenegro titles on it and use it only as a government jet.

They explicitly said it will be a dry lease. It's written in the tender documentation too.

Buy the plane from the airline for enormous money to pump it up into that airline, then lease it back for far below market rates. This way circumvent EU regulations preventing heavy subsidizing state owned airlines.
