NEWS FLASH

Low cost carrier Wizz Air will postpone the launch of its planned new service between Skopje and Turin by almost three months. Flights between the two cities will now commence on May 26, instead of the initially planned March 3. The airline has also modified the schedule, with the service now departing Skopje in the morning rather than the late afternoon. Further flight details can be found here. Italy, which has some of the most restrictive entry requirements in Europe, still mandates the majority of fully vaccinated Macedonian citizens to quarantine for ten days upon arrival.

Something tells me they want some money to launch new routes. Don't know what it is.

Wizz needs money. Danish pension fund just withdrew from Wizz due to labor and human rights abuses. Airline is losing hundreds of millions per quarter. They are looking for airports to support them.

I'd support them if I were an airport.

The route is not delayed becouse of the low demand. It is delayed becouse of the runway reconstruction at Skopje airport. Except this, Wizz Air has also delayed the flights to Vaxjo, Bologna, Bremen and some more. It is because the carrier can operate only 10 flights per day from Skopje during the reconstruction period, five of them will depart in the morning and five in the evening. Five aircrafts will be deployed only. Some other routes are also delayed to be increased for May instead of March.

And yes, there is demand for Turin, as there is big Macedonian and Albanian diaspora living in Italy. Plus Pristina does not have direct flights to Turin which is great for Skopje.

Route was supposed to start at the start of March while runway reconstruction does not start until the end of March.

The details of the Skopje airport reconstruction works were announced a while ago. Does it mean that Wizz willingly sold tickets for a flight they knew won't be operated? Smart way of collecting money and turn it to "credit" on the account of the passengers...

Route was supposed to be launched in December of last year. So it is not related to runway reconstruction.

It's a promo flight for politicians to take photos. Not revenue service.

I am starting to get annoyed with wizz.

Idiots cancelled Vienna flights from INI for some reason, while Ryanair is flying twice weekly with alright loads.

Wizz cant be depended on anymore.

If Wizz could also get alright loads from INI to VIE why would they suspend it?
