Low cost carrier Transavia introduced flights between Paris Orly and Ljubljana late last week, complementing its existing operations from Amsterdam. Services will run twice per week, with Ljubljana Airport expecting the flights to operate on a year-round basis. “Transavia France brings value for our Paris operations. The French capital is very popular among Ljubljana Airport's passengers. These new flights will be a perfect choice for those who would like to experience Paris on a weekend getaway, and vice versa for tourists from France, who are planning to visit our beautiful country. We firmly believe that the connection will live up to the carrier's expectations and, with favourable epidemiological conditions in the autumn and continued recovery in travel demand, will be able to grow into a long-term addition to our network”, the Head of Airline Management at operator Fraport Slovenija, Janez Krašnja, said. The airport expects for Transavia to handle some 20.000 passengers per year on the route. Air France maintains services between Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and the Slovenian capital.

Let's hope these stay longer than one season.

They moved launch date from 24.4 to 14.4. We always see the opposite.

Congrats LJU. Orly is also a very handy airport, so close to the city center.

Smaller than CDG, maybe a little bit closer to the center but not very close

ORY is not little bit closer than CDG, it is double closer. If you take road ring that circles Paris as a boundary, it's about 10 km to the South to reach Orly, and it's about 20 km to the North to reach CDG. It is also much cheaper going to ORY than to CDG, about double cheaper too, if I remember correctly. Not to mention much less mess and troubles on ORY compared to CDG which is complicated and difficult to use even for people who have airports as natural environment, let alone those travelling rarely. Almost all people I know avoid CDG whenever possible

I don't understand the hate CDG is getting. I use it regularly and mostly enjoy the airport experience. Not a bad airport at all, of course I wouldn't put it up there with AMS when comparing it to other larger European airports, but it's by far not the worst.

The one-way ticket to reach CDG with RER is a bit steep at EUR 10,xx (but there are other airports with even steeper transport prices). It's however true that ORY will soon get direct connection with M14 which will make it even more attractive.

If I were Transavia I'd be doing the same. I would add even more destinations and flights.

We should be celebrating doha, jfk, japan flights. Not 2x weekly flight to Paris.

For anyone asking about load factor. 139 passengers from Paris and 103 to Paris (first day)

Do you maybe have the numbers for Sundays flight? Judging by the flight prices the loads are good. So we could see additional frequencies added by next year

At LJU it doesn't matter if flight are full. They can be still cancelled. Seen a month ago.

All? You serious? Firstly Iberia and Finnair won't come back, TK reduced from double daily to 10 weekly, LOT from 10 weekly to 8 weekly, and lets not forget Aeroflot, Rossiya and Windrose will not fly to LJU. And we could add Sunexpress which also cancelled LJU last year and it looks like they won't come back.

      1. Iberia- lack of planes
      2. Finnair- flights were used to fly to asia, with most of the routes being canceled, this was expected
      3. TK starts double daily next week.
      4. Lot I'm not sure
      5. Ukrainian and Russian flights were lost in all of exyu, apart from Serbia ofc
      6. Sun Express is a misery for me, no idea how they even started the flights without turkish not being daily

Don't get me wrong, LJU management is shit, but it's not all their fault. Small diaspora, no international airlines, lack of any kind of government support in mix with covid and ukrainian war.
As someone who flies from Lju on weekly basis the situation is not great at all but you can get to any point with only one stop
