Lufthansa boosts Ljubljana capacity

NEWS FLASH

Lufthansa is upgrading its double daily flights between Frankfurt and Ljubljana from the CRJ900 aircraft to the Airbus A319 jet starting July 2. The move will result in an additional 94 seats per day each way between the two cities. The flights will be maintained by the A319 until the end of the 2022 summer season in late October. Lufthansa is the busiest airline operating into Slovenia, handling 20.566 passengers between Frankfurt and Ljubljana during the first quarter of the year. In May it restored operations between Munich and the Slovenian capital following a two-year hiatus.

  3. It's not much, still it's something. Keep my fingers crossed for LJU to grow much more and much faster. Used to use it quite lot in the past, hope it will be the case in future again

Weird, from what I heard from some experts there's no demand from Slovenia and everyone travels by car

    4. Anonymous23:10

@23:04 - there was clear demand to the MEB3 and Turkey from the very start. Another story is that it took a much longer time to have those flights. Mind you, FZ will become daily DXB-LJU throughout the summer season! I don't wanna imagine QR's arrival then.......

Positive news? It depends on who you ask. I certainly don’t want to pay for a new “national” airline that can’t support itself. I suggest the government sets up a stock company and anyone interested in supporting the new airline can buy stocks, including you! That, I’d be okay with.

You forget that you are paying for public transport like trains and buses, not to mention that you are paying for 3mio in subsidies for airlines that are currently flying with full planes. Or maybe that you are paying for useless non-goverment organisations (about 50mio yearly), air conectivity is crutial for Slovenia if we want to become business oriented country. So yes, we need a national carrier, and yes your tax money goes to much worse things

I hate to be wrong but it gives me the impression that Fraport are secretly supporting Lufti and deliberately not lobbying or helping the local administration for the creation of a new Slovene carrier. But wait, the entire Balkans belong to Germany since a very long time and Slowenija is no exception.

We all already know this, except for a few Fraport fanboys. LH owns a part in Fraport, so it is not a surprise.

Really really crazy. Sounds like pure communism if you ask me. Let us again have only 1 airline and one company and not allowing others to expand. This also explains the "tender" of subsidies which was largely benefitted again from Lufthansa.
And we are talking about EU where it usually it is quite harsh towards monopolies...simply unbelievable story.

    3. Excuse me, what one airline you talk about? JAT, Adria, Pan Adria, Aviogenex, we had 4 airlines in "communism", we had more money, more " freedom of movement " and more opportunities than today. I keep telling for a long time what we have today is much closer to communism than what we had during Yugoslavia. That's why it had to disappear and that's why we have stories about one type of yoghurt on the market with over 50 types

Pozdrav, do you think what happening in LJU is normal? One can clearly see the favouritism towards Lufthansa and how it was so privileged during the last years. Not to mention that their European or short haul service has become a lowcost airline service.
Don't you find it strange a country like Slovenia with all its resources not being able to set up its proper national airline?

      Delete
    5. Hi @An.23.07! Of course it's not normal. And I think it's not about being able to set an airline, it's about erasing an airline (Adria) which had been NASA compared to Croatia Airlines. They are destroying everything on their way, thanks to bribed and corrupted politicians. OU is the next to follow the fate of JP. It's the matter of months. And both Croatia and Slovenia have enormous potentials when it comes to air traffic and we are both at the bottom, Slovenia overall and Croatia with its flag carrier. Danke Deutschland!

      I agree with pozdrav.

Adria was a realy good airline...
But talking about Lufti. Fra and Muc have had always work well for Adria and other balkan companyes so I am not supprised with a Lufti LF, but I do agree we should put more effort in national carrier

Finally! Last 6 months were hard to selling air tickets on LH especially on LJU-FRA, as all flights were overbooked. Great job LH!
