NEWS FLASH

Malaysia Airlines has expressed interest in concluding a codeshare agreement with Air Serbia to enable easier connections between Belgrade and Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Minister for Transport, Wee Ka Siong, said the codeshare, as well as visa liberalisation with Serbia, are part of plans to boost tourism between the two countries. Malaysia Airlines currently codeshares on Qatar Airways’ service between Doha and Belgrade. In 2019, Malaysia's Batik Air, which is part of the Indonesian Lion Air group, said it was seeking to conclude an interline agreement with Air Serbia. The Kuala Lumpur-based airline hoped to clinch a deal with the Serbian carrier in order to tap into new markets, as well as enable passengers to find easier connections when travelling between Asia and Europe, however, an agreement between the two sides was never reached.

Which JU`s route might be considered for this code-share?
IST? Plus some other in the SEE region?

MH's only destination it shares with JU is LHR. The schedules would require a minimum of a 7 hour connection and a transit visa for the UK.

MH no longer serves IST, however they have charters to SAW.

Look for Malaysias hibiscus livery on its old 744s !
Also the blue one on its old 772s .

Sadly, of all the planes, their Boeing 777 9M-MRD that used to carry a special blue heliconia-themed livery has been lost as MH17 (wearing MAS regular livery)

Interesting. Until around 2008 Serbian citizens were banned from entering Malaysia on ground of Bosnian war.

I traveled from Belgrade to Kuala Lumpur in 2019. Had no issue whatsoever. Got my visa at the Malaysian embassy in Belgrade within 2 hours (it was for leisure purposes).

Just to add that the visa application is just a formality. Other than your basic personal details it requires no further information. Nothing like bank accounts, proof of employment and so on.
