Slovenia holds talks over Qatar flights

NEWS FLASH

The Slovenian Minister for Infrastructure, Jernej Vrtovec, held talks in Ljubljana yesterday with the Qatari Minister for Transport and Telecommunications, Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, over the introduction of flights between Doha and the Slovenian capital, as well as cooperation in the field of civil aviation. The meeting came just a week after a high ranking Qatari delegation visited Slovenia where potential flights were also discussed. The non-resident Ambassador of Qatar to Slovenia, Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansouri, said last week that Qatar Airways is very interested in the European market, but that opening a new route such as Ljubljana requires time for it to be studied and analysed. “Once completed, the route will be launched”, Mr al-Mansouri said.

If u gave the guy about 4 months, Slovenia would get airline part owned by Qatar. But it seems like the new government is extremely against the airline. shame

Well old gouverment didn't say no and didn't say yes.

But the new gouverment and also the new minister for infrastructure said how they will make national carrier...

And they canceld it as we all knew

At least old gouverment didn't lie about it for elections so...

you are manipulating with words. Jansa clearly said that Slovenia does not need national carrier, you have that in their pre-election program.

Please remind if SAB is in the government, because were approving new national carrier. As far as I know new minister for infrastructure will be in Svoboda party so she does not have any influence on that. She will have to dance as others are playing. Same for SD and Levica as they are in majority.

Don't understand me wrong, I'm disappointed as well but that's how it is. Last but not least, in coalition agreement they did not specifically wrote that there won't be national carrier, it's written that they will establish connections under economically justified reasons.

Well you are right, but I mena Sd and levuca couild at least say something about it maybe. And not just be quiet. As well as, why no national carrier but 3/4 new ministryes are no problem if you know what i mean.

It turns out QR fly to all exyu capitals with the exception of LJU and PRN is that correct?
Why did it take them so long to look into LJU? They already operate in the region for 10 years now.

    2. Far East traffic to both Slovenia and Croatia is huge, and once restored to pre-plandemic levels, both LJU and ZAG can sustain QR, FZ/EK and many others
